Yeah, the weekly note made mention that the MJO over the tropical Americas and Africa will move east in the coming fortnight, with below-average rainfall expected across much of N.W. Australia and the N.T. during the first half of March. I suppose that will then move across to N.Q. as well.

OK by me as, I want to have another go at the singapore daisy.
My last effort go a fair bit of it, but it never got 6 hours before it rained. My mate across the road gave me a small coke bottle of some good, strong stuff to bowl it over good and proper. He's got a poisons licence and can get stuff not available the general public.

I've filled the 5 litre pressure sprayer, and pretty sure I'll have a win with this stuff. Winds dropped too, so the poison won't drift over stuff I don't want obliterated.

Think we ended up with a pretty quick 89mm in the pre-Niran blow. Some pretty epic foliage and tree damage for almost no warning. Wifey rang me and I came home about 1130am Monday when the manhole cover blew in lol. Had no power from then until Wed just before 6pm. Spent Tuesday on the chainsaw and will spend tomorrow as well. Lack of forewarning is big on the agenda for locals around here.

Thanks for everyone's updates. It was all a non-event for us.

I think it's now The Dry Season in Chillagoe.

Niran is now a cat 5 and looks set to shave Vanuatu. ouch!

It looks like it is a fairly small system, so hopefully they will be spared the worst of it.

Just my personal thoughts, but i wonder if This Month will be drier? going back over my previous years, each time we have had a very wet Jan and Feb, March is usually not as wet.

Niran seems to be moving fairly fast. Hopefully Noumea didn't cop it too badly.

Right now we're getting a little bit of rain from the storms to the east. Just at the very edge, as usual.

Refreshed everything very nicely, although it was only warm, not hot today. My food patch will be very happy.

Edit 7pm: Might've ended up with about 10mm after all. Still a bit damp to go check.

Just took this pic, hopefully you can see the brown on the ridges from the foliage damage.

Great photo Ron.
What caused the damage? Fires?

We managed 47mm last night, and another 6mm around midday today.

No, that is the pre-cyclone damage from Monday. Nice fall 28, I haven't bothered to measure since Tuesday morning.

This tree would be nearly 300mm where it snapped. It is still on my neighbours fence as I had the day off today needed a break. Trying to chop up a black wattle yesterday and I think my chainsaw needed a break too lol.

Edmonton would have scored a decent total today with a heavy shower hovering there for like 3 hours.

35mm up here this morning from a wet day yesterday.
Rained most of the day on and off and only really saw the sun around 15:00

Still no sign of any wet season weather coming our way.

Cheers

Threw out 45mm this morning and as Bunyip says there's a heavy stream of it coming right at us and has put 78mm in my gauge already.

Oh bugger. My email notifications have failed - for the second time...🤬 Not that there's been any weather to report from here.

Just seen on Telstra Exchange:

We’re testing a hyper-local weather network for Australia’s farmers

And the radar is out of action again :(

Not really anything to report here either 28, a few light showers each night keeping the paddocks sloppy
But definitely not wet season weather.

Cheers

Everything is drying out again. Fading green.

The mock orange is flowering. The ants are building mini-volcanoes. I think they'll be disappointed. Even they don't always get it right.

Scattered showers around us but the force field is firmly in place it seems.

Just checking in.
Nothing to report.

In the meantime, just for something to do...here's a sky pic north-east and one to the west, a few minutes ago.

Now that was some sort of a storm.

Looks like about 150mm in the nylex, and still raining lightly. Two lightning strikes very close by,- one took the power and internet.

Power was back within 30 seconds, but broadband took about 25 mins. I re-booted the modem/router, but the problem was somewhere else in the system.
