I remember the cyclone that hit SEQ northern NSW in 1973. I lived at Newport on Sydney's northern beaches. It was pretty wild that far south. It shifted sand to cover the beach carpark, main road, and the north end of the main street. A friend had anchored in his 25 foot yacht off Byron Bay & was washed up on the beach. (Back in the day it was fibro beach shacks.)
