Bunyip, in my reef boat I just use loose marine carpet over the chequerplate floor and it makes it so easy to remove and clean and then replace the square when it looks shabby...

For my smaller tinny I think I might try carpet with velcro around the edges to hold it in place but still easily removeable so you can just hang it up and blast with water...
