I’m having trouble accessing some of the weather models because of damage from yesterday’s storms. The radio said some areas might be without power for 3–4 days, depending on what happens over the next week.

The Brisbane forecast shows storm icons for Tuesday to Thursday, but the detailed outlook suggests thunderstorms could pop up beyond that too.

Right now there’s a storm cell moving into the Texas/Stanthorpe area with lightning already showing, so I’m keeping an eye on that. Yesterday’s storms mostly hugged the coast on the eastern side of the Range.

As for whether yesterday used up the “fuel” in the atmosphere—hard to say. Stepping outside this morning, it was hot, humid and felt very unstable, so it seems the atmosphere is still primed, hopefully not as severely. I’m waiting on the next sounding and hoping my Wi-Fi cooperates so I can check the models.

Just stay alert for any warnings if storms develop, and stay safe.

This whole pattern reminds me a bit of the 1984/85 season. The 1985 Brisbane hail storm was the worst I’ve ever been caught in, and yesterday will go down as one of the big ones too. I have been in many massive storms including cyclones over the years. I feel for those that suffer loss or damage to property etc. These storms are not fun and I am not one that hopes for massive storms so I can get photos or get a thrill out of it.
