I well over this weather and collecting all this data throws the severe nature right at my face.
I have used cheap weather stations from Bunnings, but I found the accuracy, reliability and responsiveness to not be too good. I am using a Davis Vantage Pro2 which is not cheap but reports data extremely well. This lets me present data on my website and here much more accurately than before. I found this through a comparison I made between the old and new station that I published on my website.
Totally agree on both points.
The storm on Friday is starting to grab my attention a little so I will start going through the models and keeping an eye on on it. Something has to give, just when and how big is the problem.
The weather station was just a couple of hundred of dollars as my Dad who had Alzheimers kept pulling them to pieces and I would have to fix them. As he is now in a home I am looking at the higher end. It was not too bad as I was able to check the data with the Airport and Redcliffe.
Cheers.
I also use a Davis Pro 2, but also use old style wet and dry liquid-in-glass thermometers as the accuracy of the Davis wanders off at each end of the humidity spectrum. I also use a glass thermometer for minimum temps as again the Davis accuracy is restricted by its heat shield, which although much bigger than most others is too confining and does not allow heat to escape quickly enough overnight and with subtle wind drifts in the early mornings.
