I have noticed the change in wind speed during the day and night this past 2 days

Winds drop during darkness and ramp up during the day. Noticeable during this weak high pressure zone currently.

Coolongatta obs show 13km/hr at 9am , peaking to 32km/hr at 1pm as the solar warms the land, the warming air rises and leaves an area of reduced pressure underneath. The onshore sea comes rushing in to replace the deficit or moving toward equilibrium.
It is now 5.15pm and the wind is dropping again. Yesterday evening the wind abruptly stopped at 6.30pm to a weak 9km/hr

Great weather today , mild and sunny, once again for tourists, the Gold coast show and Fathers Day

Pretty close. The last few years have seen very low mins, even down to 2deg a couple of years ago, but this year has been different as you picked out. The lowest min this year was 5.0C and the mins in general have been higher than usual. But these have been balanced by maxs this year which have tended to be lower than immediate past years.
