Awe-inspiring photographs snapped from inside the eye of Hurricane Dorian by a special division of the US Air Force has revealed the tremendous power of the Category 5 storm.
Air Force and reconnaissance planes - known as the "Hurricane Hunters" - have been crisscrossing the eye of the storm, where they have witnessed and photographed a phenomenon called the "stadium effect" inside Dorian.
The "stadium effect" makes the hurricane eye look like the giant bowl of a sports stadium, and is only seen during extremely powerful storms. Wind gusts over 354km/h have been recorded, and Dorian's power is forecast to increase.
