Thanks for the welcome guys, shame that there are so many forums with everyone scattered all over the place. This one seemed to be the most active, im sure there is plenty of activity on facebook but i refuse to use FB anymore. Cold snap coming up friday morning with BOM forecasting a low of 16C for port douglas as of this mornings forecast however may well go much lower than that. I havent got an accurate temp recorder set up at my place yet but am looking into it. Looking into the gear made by onset HOBO external temp logger, looks to be good quality stuff made in the US.

Would like to have accurate temperatures recorded for my place because unfortunately for us up here north of cairns the only "official" BOM temperature comes from low isles which is a tiny island 13km or so off coast and the readings there have little relevance to the temperatures we see around the area obviously due to being a tiny island surrounded by water. Cairns aero and cooktown are the nearest official stations on land both of which are a long way from us.
