Gee you have been getting consistent falls over the past year or so 28..must be nice to not be so dry and dusty these days...

Tropo I always have a chuckle when its hot up here and someone says maybe they should move to Tasmania because its a cooler climate or the real estate is much cheaper..

Its obvious they have no idea that the place gets awful westerly winds all year and when it turns south west and pushs up weather from Antarctica its barely fit for human habitation..

Anyway I find it really dissapointing the way the BOM is being run these days and the total lack of accountability when they get it so wrong but then persist with wildly inaccurate forecasts again and again.....in what job can you so often fail but have no concerns about being sanctioned or terminated..particularly when its a job that actually has peoples lives and livelihoods at stake..

For instance how many farmers, fearful of the last terrible drought, would have sold off stock at very low prices recently because of BOM's El nino predictions of no real rain till next spring only to find instead they have abundant feed because of unforecasted consistent rain and storms...

This is what another public funded organisations (sbs) reported...WTF...!!!!..this is where our tax dollars age going...I almost fell off my chair..

"The cyclone is believed to be the strongest to hit Queensland's north in over 40 years."

and this

"In meteorological terms, it's is believed to be the strongest cyclone to hit Queensland's north since Cyclone Althea devastated the region in 1971."

and this

"Tropical Cyclone Kirrily is expected to "rapidly decay" after crossing the Queensland coast northwest of Townsville as one of the most powerful systems seen in the north.

However, the Bureau of Meteorology says it could still bring strong winds and heavy rain as it moves inland."
