There were some very strong storms on the Gold Coast. They caused a bit of damage as well.

This mornings sounding with the heat that had already built up overnight as Colmait mentioned allowed for the cap on the Gold Coast to break allowing for the severe storm cells to form.



There was good shear up through the atmosphere that would have caused strong winds. The cap was relatively small compared to the soundings from the modelling system.
