The gusty W to SW winds are starting to pick up here in earnest and will continue to increase further during the day before the southerly change pushes through - EC parameters for Brisbane in 3rd image above. Observed fire dangers also starting to increase.

Some localised showers and storms have been occurring near the border this morning including the southern Granite Belt (with a bit more approaching) and the northern tablelands. EDIT: another line has formed along the NR and MNC coast - 2nd image above as at 10:42am EDT.
Also above in the 1st image is the observed rainfall in the 24hrs from 9am yesterday from the localised activity (some additional rainfall also occurred in the overnight/early morning hours prior to that period as the patchy inland stuff moved across to the coast).

Still looking very hot later this week especially away from the seabreeze-affected immediate coast after the temporary cooldown on Wednesday.
Fire dangers also increase yet again towards the end of the week as the westerlies and heat peaks again but any chance of dry storms looks very isolated at best at the moment.

The EC ensemble still has almost nothing for Brisbane until mid November when it starts to increase probability of precip and instability but amounts don't look too huge atm.

Now gusting at 80km/h @ 12:57. Very strong constant wind.

Some pretty decent gusts recorded so far up to 3pm around the southeast including:

89km/hr - Wellcamp Airport
83km/hr - Gatton
80km/hr - Brisbane Airport and Oakey
76km/hr - Coolangatta and Toowoomba

As at 3pm, Energex reported 1703 without power, many of those due to downed powerlines.

The W to SW'lies still look like progressively moderating later this afternoon/early this evening but this easing will probably be delayed around the islands and some of the more exposed parts of the coastal fringe as the vigorous southerly change surges northwards.

Hopefully should feel a lot cooler overnight tonight and not be as hot on Wednesday… but this reprieve doesn't last long with the very hot conditions still on track to develop later this week in SEQ, especially away from the coast.

There is currently a faint glimmer of hope on the horizon with the EC ensemble showing some signs of a possible increase in moisture and instability developing in mid-November but it’s too far away to be worth giving any serious thought to yet.

P.S. Warrego Highway has been closed in both directions at time of writing due to powerlines downed onto the road. There's also a fire that started nearby.

Horribly dry and windy day. Temperature rose to 30 C by mid morning and was variable from mid morning to mid afternoon hovering between 28 and 30 C for about 7 hrs. Dew point absolutely crashed going into the negative at midday and fell to a low of -20 C in this afternoon. The dew point stayed low while slowly rising in the late afternoon and rose 18 C in 6 minutes from 6:48 pm. Dew point have been stable since this sudden rise though is still moderately low. Relative humidity also fell very low today and was 3 to 5 % for much of the afternoon before rising 29% in 10 minutes tonight. W to NW winds this morning, WNW to WSW this afternoon, W to SW later this afternoon and a E to SE wind change from 6:49pm. Wind speed increased during the morning of light to moderate and gusty, briefly fresh in the afternoon before easing through the afternoon. Maximum wind gust of 64 kph and sustained wind speed of 33 kph.
