Nice to see stream showers return to the NTC, and storm activity through SEQLD. Fingers crossed for a decent storm season in the tropics!

Great stuff. Can you feel the humidity rising and the wet season around the corner, or is this just a once off shower?

39.5mm for the week so far - humidity rising but cool again with the SE surge that came through. More diurnal showers tonight I suspect.

Yes humidity has risen, temps certainly aren't outrageous as yet, but I did manage to get cooked after a couple of hours in the afternoon sun down Mission beach today.

As far as forecasts go, next week is pretty boring for Cairns! (Google says anyway)

It sure is. My test of a cold beer without a stubby holder is showing quite a lot of condensation running down on to the table. I would almost say almost 20ml was on the table by the time I finished.

Apparently there was some thunder and lightning about last night, I was dead to the world from catching coral trout but did get a huge 1.2mm from it.

Looking forward to the next few days. Humidity is increasing, the temperature is rising and some rain is on the way. Can't wait!

Great to see some rain, but I was hoping for a drop more than that. Early days though.

I nipped up to Mareeba to see some friends today and it looked impressive for a bit. A few BIG drops and that was it though.

Severe weather warning for Damaging Winds the coastal area between Wujal Wujal north of Mossman down to Tully.

"Weather Situation: from Bom
A surface low pressure system is located over central Queensland, moving east.
Strong westerly winds, with localised damaging gusts around 90km/h, are possible east of the Dividing Range early on Saturday morning.
Locations within a few kilometres east of the base of the Dividing Range are particularly susceptible to these conditions.
These conditions should ease later on Saturday morning."

Cairns Post head line - "Innisfail ravaged by severe cyclone like storm".

Anyone have any news please as l don't have access to the Cairns Post? Hoping it doesn't get too windy here between Port Douglas and Cairns Northern beaches.

Haha, Cairns Post is the least reliable source of information in Cairns. Innisfail copped a massive storm though.

BoM just had a heads up for downslope winds, which weren't bad here, was pretty gusty last night with a fair amount of lightning about.
