Haven't had any weather to talk about, then I went to southern Victoria... And we got the best weather for years - apparently. Frustrating not to be home.

Hi RF. No idea about Chillagoe at the moment, except that I might have extremely high dead weeds by the time I get back. Have a feeling I'll have missed a very meagre wet season.

Visited friend at Warrnambool in southern Victoria. Cold, damp & windy. Drove to Kiama south of Wollongong NSW, hid inside from smoke, cold & rain. Quick visit to Sydney, no smoke I noticed, & a bit of light rain. Drove from Kiama via western Sydney to Windsor and the Putty Road to Singleton and the New England Highway to Armidale. Through Windsor the day before it flooded. Interesting, and uplifting, to see the regrowth on most of the blackened vegetation.

Leaving on Thursday, driving up the ranges or further west. Like an umbrella, that is sure to keep Uesi away from the coast...

Cant wait to get home. I actually miss our 38°+ days. Not needing to be in multiple layers while everyone else is in shorts.

Gotta say these next few days are gonna be torture for anyone working outside. 37c today, and much of the same until Sunday it seems. Often this real hot weather seems to break with something big, but I'm not sure this time.

%-#@ it’s been hot. Yesterday afternoon I was hosing bat [censored]off a car when a pair of sunbirds turned up. I put the nozzle on mist and the sunbirds just dived straight in and had a shower for about 5 minutes . They went away and I continued with the car. Then I heard chirping, they were back (or a different pair?). More showers. This pattern recurred about 5 times. Love sunbirds.

Phew.....finally home after a month away. No idea how much rain, but the birdbath and the bucket are up to the top, and the grass needs mowing and snippering.

Noticed a few dams had water again, although not filled. Everything is green again. A few tiny calves around, waiting politely to cross the road.

Apparently we had a good storm here last night. Must've cooled it a bit. Only 35° at 3.15pm ish.

Storms...driving into Sarina on Friday late afternoon, into the most spectacular electrical storm I've driven in for over 30 years. Stopped twice, I simply couldn't even see the road markings. Lighting bolts all around and loud cracking thunder. G*d I love storms like that, and being out in them. (As out as you can be in a closed up car.)

Good evening fellow FNQers.
We've just had a lovely refreshing storm. A few very loud cracks of thunder, a lot of flashes through the air, and gentle rain.
The paspalum is still too long to get to rain gauge, and having missed a whole month I'm not too fussed. At least the finches are enjoying the long grass.

Normally I rarely catch sight of the finches. If I ever find anyone to mow my yard, I might get them to leave a couple square metres of tall grass down by the trees at the back fence.

I have weeds that I'm loathe to poison, since all kinds of birds turn up in the dry season to feed in it.

According to Cairns radar one would think it's been raining out here for the last hour or so, but nothing. (Maybe it's not really fixed. )

Absolutely dumped in Mareeba about 3.30 this afternoon, could hardly see. Drove out of it. Apparently I missed similar in Chillagoe about the same time that gave us about 16mm.

Fingers crossed the Gulf low will bring us a bit more wet.

Was so disappointed to be missing good rain when I left.

There was a time when I always brought rain with me. Don't know when that changed... 🤔
