The bloody cicadas have been emerging for a bit over a week now,- maybe a lot more flushed out now. Going to be plenty of noise when they all get going.

Another 213 yesterday so 403mm for the past 2 days.. Strangely enough although there is water laying about on the coastal flats we didnt get the heavy intensity of rain that you Cairns guys got causing the flash flooding.. It was just nice steady rain ..I would have actually liked some of the heavy stuff to give our creeks a real good flush...... Bunyip I guess thats how it goes with a low pressure system..maybe your turn next time.. LOL ..Ron ya just forgot to mention you got a metery..I have never even caught one yet... 27mm since 7am.
Just before midday we had a massive encompassing flash of light and an instant loudest ever crack of thunder I've ever experienced. Then utter silence. Even the cicadas stopped.
Weather has lifted. Blue sky and sunlight have appeared, but still black and interesting in the west.

210MM for the past 24hrs, again the bulk of that seemed to fall in the latter part of the day.
Yeah, Scott, the sun managed to poke it's head out a few times, but a few grumbles and it is lightly raining (at the moment)

Only 12mm yesterday but man that humidity was off the charts all day and into the evening. Finally got the part to fix the ride-on yesterday, so went like a cut snake till the rain hit.
Awesome pics 28, keep em comin.
Great lightshow around the Cairns area last night but we had people over so all I could do was watch it through the window. There are a few pics floating around on FB |

Done a couple loads of laundry. Hoping the mower man turns up, at least to make some tracks lol.

The BoM, in their weekly note, suggesting that the rain will become less frequent over the next 2 weeks.
Only time will tell if the are right, or wrong on this one
"With no significant MJO or other tropical atmospheric wave activity expected in Australian longitudes for at least the next fortnight, inactive, or monsoon break, conditions are likely to become established across northern Australia in the coming days.
This usually means rainfall activity becomes less frequent and more isolated than when the Australian monsoon is in an active phase. "
C@28,- the image is 1024 x 768, so quite OK. When they get up around 2000 pix on the long side, they mess with things.

Anyone seen the pics of the funnel cloud from Gordonvale this afternoon? I was making sinkers in the shed, then next minute running around securing things and I actually missed seeing it dammit. |

It looks like the forum automatically resizes it to something acceptable. On my laptop tonight, & have to zoom out to 67% to fit it into the screen. Pretty good storm again this afternoon between 3pm and 4pm with 32mm. Not a bad effort. Funnel cloud sounds exciting ronfishes.

Wow 28 your getting more rain than I am. lol , I'm sure that will change but it's great to see that country getting a good drink
after so many years.
