Woolies are quite strict on their suppliers quality, though Rusty's is probably a bit cheaper, especially toward pack-up time when the best stuff has already been bought. Having to park three or four blocks away, has always been the biggest turn off for me. You need to get there earlier mate, you can say “hi” to me and @28 at 06:00 on a Friday morning.... Also there is a reason why most shopping centres have a successful green grocer out the front of coles or woolies, the biggies fruit and veg are crap. I've found Coles Mareeba to be pretty good. Terrible 10 years ago but transformed. Quality is generally very good. They sell local avocados as well. Woollies is at Atherton but rarely get over there. I'm generally at Rusty's by 5.15am. That means overnight & waking at 4am. Had enough of that, finally. What started me going early was Pena's chillies selling out too fast. And the parking, choose your spot. 😁 Now I have my own chillies growing, along with a couple pawpaws. They are loving these whole days of overcast and continuing drizzle. So am I. Been quite cool at night about 23 degrees. The creek has been up & raging. Badly needed. This drizzly weather this year is the first I've experienced in my ten years living here.

We are having the second day of very heavy gray drizzle / rain, with 68mm in the gauge this morning.
Still not real happy with the quality of our radar, really not showing what is going on.
Fruit and veg is not real flash in woolies Mossman, but we do have private veg shop selling lots of local stuff
so that makes up for it.

49.6mm and a dead gecko here from the last 2 days, pleasantly cool at times.
You really are having a cracker out there @28. Seems to be quite a season on lots of the Cape as well. Meanwhile our local rivers and creeks have barely risen above normal flow this season, and Tinaroo is unlikely to fill if we don't get a decent drop in the right spots soon. |

Good morning everyone.
42mm in the gauge at 7:45am. Better than I was expecting.
Not happy with the radar either. Still no response to my email contact.
These days of constant drizzle are wonderful, Bunyip. 😊
Lucky you with the fruit & veg shop.
Yes, it's been a cracker so far. Kinda hard to believe. Been in Chillagoe almost 11 years, this is the first time I've experienced continual daily drizzle. Not even aprés-Yasi gave us this.

Two day falls here have been 135mm total (the 40 feet to the gauge is a bridge too far sometimes).
Now if I could see on the radar what's coming towards me between Lakeland and Coen I'd have a fair idea of a forecast....
And I'm pretty sure pumpkins won't grow underwater so harvested one today, hoping the slight yellow instead of white stripes in one jap means...almost ripe, before its nether regions rots.

Well, if I got that newspaper I'd know more about it but I do check the highlights each day and woohoo, an article about the 'blind spot' on the radar but 'they can't do anything about it' Oh really? Talking about the bridge too far Dormant, I've got my gauge set up so I can take a photo of it with my zoom camera. I don't need to get wet.
The radar did range a lot further in the past. Guess it's funding cuts that are the problem.

Good morning everyone 😊😊 6mm & a dead small insect in the gauge just now. 23°C and quite a fair bit of blue between the high clouds. Good as zero on the radar. Chillagoe's unrecognisable at the moment. Like this I can't imagine it brown. When it's brown I can't imagine it like this. lol. In desperation this morning I tweeted BOM Au and BOM Qld with screenshots of Cairns 512km & Weipa 512km single images. A very large expanse of white.

Oh, well done, 28. A perfect example of what we're talking about. No wonder they can't supply a 512k composite unlike other areas - ain't no overlap.
Just one chainsaw going from neighbours this morning at sparrow fart, then a mighty crunch. Musta been a biggun.

All those people in the white areas have absolutely nothing. Although I guess that's been the case for a large proportion of places around Mount Isa. I'm sure I heard talk several years ago of adding extra weather stations out in that region, maybe I dreamed it. Where did this cloud cover come from? Yeah the day is changing as the radar is filling in with rain and storms by the look of things.
Been good to get a few bits of rubbish burnt and pick up sticks and fronds while it was clear this morning.
Nice work on the pics for the Bom 28 , shows the problem.
Must be why they have it down for maintenance this week, they have to fly someone up to do anything to it.
