I was watching the CNS radar archives from 15:00 to 18:00h, and saw how much you missed.
So much went by you to the east and S/E,- at what looked to be no more than half a km.

Would have given your yard a bit of a drink. Fingers crossed,- temps at 30°C or so may bring some more.

Geez its still been quite warm and muggy for May, quick glance shows the AP running 1.9c above Max mean, and 1c above Min. Hope that cool air comes up next week.

How odd,- Just yesterday morning, when I changed the sheets, I put the electric blanket on the bed, in anticipation of the bigger highs bringing southerlies,- clear skies & colder nights.

Best $45 I've spent for the last couple of winters. Must be be something to do with being an old fart, and feeling the cold more so.

I could understand up the hill or out where 28 is but on the beach, really...

We have always slept with a window open even when we lived in the Blue Mountains in full on winter,
good doona or 2 and can sleep like a baby. Never slept with an electric blanket on, have used them to
warm the bed before going to bed, but turned off when get in.

I brought Merino thermals before we went to Japan in 2018, never wore them :) climbed up to see the
snow monkeys and wore thongs the whole time, got lots of strange looks but it was not That cold, just
a bit of snow and slush. The coldest day was down south of Kobe it was blowing 40knt and ice in the wind.

I'm not a fan of the below 20° mornings, but they are good sleeping nights, cuddled up with the dog.


Few showers overnight gives me 7mm in the gauge this morning. :)

Well the stream showers have set in with these high winds.

7mm , 10mm , and 13mm the last few days.

No sigh of a break in it, but at least it's not cold, nights back up over 20°

Just a dull oppressive day at Chillagoe. On one hand it's depressing, on the other it keeps things cool & slows evaporation.
But I'm on the way to Cairns, hoping I'll get wet at some stage...lol.

Gday guys Im a self confessed weather junkie and dont do facebook so was glad to come across this forum with what looks to be felow weather junkies. I live in the bamboo valley between mossman and daintree, looks like we have a few locals on here.

Was a pretty good wet season at my place we have had YTD 2350mm up to the end of may. Locally across the official BOM stations rainfall has been a bit hit and miss with some stations above average and some below. Compared to cairns and the tully/ingham areas which are well above average.

Some data for local stations to the end of may

Whyanbeel valley sitting on 2153mm right on average
Daintree Village 1913mm 220mm down on average
Mossman Mill 2073mm up 280mm on average
and Cape tribulation with a whopping 3466mm (up until the end of April!!!! May data not in yet) up 850mm on average.

Nice to see some clear sunny days coming up, my yard needs a break already had 27mm first 2 days of june.
