Hi Southawk and a very big welcome to our first South Australian users to post. I will post a photo of Gemma the cat soon. She is just having a wash to get ready for the photo shoot and sleeping off her dinner at the moment. Sadly, SA is the state that I have visited the least, so I will have to correct that when I can. I went to Adelaide and the Adelaide hills in January a couple of years ago and I remember getting off of the plane to temperatures in the high 30s and a bone dry wind. It was like having a hair dyer blown on me. Beautify city and I must visit again sometime. If you know any other SA people from the forums, let then know about this one and we can build up the SA thread.

Chilly for the coastal folk for the next few days. Top of 14-15. The NW about 20 today Forecast said cumuloform cloud.? You can see all the speckles on the satellite picture. I had to look up that term It would seem it is another name for cumulus. They often come onshore from the Bight during southerlies. and l believe there are other names but l have never heard of these https://images.app.goo.gl/H9FmE7rZbB94K2Sx6

An interesting possibility for SA. In 6 days time ACC g has a long wave trough for SA which could sweep the entire state. Nice if it eventuates. Good luck 'guys' ..............
T+150hr forecast ACCg..Thursday 19th Sept 2019
Long wave trough to a very northerly 25s latitude possibly giving most parts of the state a storm band and some precipitation.
A welcome event for SAsource http://www.bom.gov.au/au...harts/viewer/index.shtml

An ACC R forecast for this Friday morning.
Some notes Friday 19th Sept. Long wave trough. Very moist southerly feeding in to the backside of the trough
A strong 1040 High near NZ may contribute to strong pre frontal winds ahead of the rain band.
Possible embedded thunderstorms
A nice long precip’ band from 28s down to the coast. Could be a nice event for Adelaide and the peninsulasource http://www.bom.gov.au/au...harts/viewer/index.shtml

Firstly thanks to colmait who has taught me some confidence to take some steps to talk about storm forecasts.I can recommend his first tutorial here
https://www.weatherforum...-formation-and-structure
It seems the potential for storms with this cold front is weak but not ruled out. Better chances over the border in West Vic. Better potential offshore .Hopefully we may catch a glimpse of something forming near Adelaide. The incoming cold air pool looks splendid on this afternoons satellite picture.. and BTW at 3pm it is 29deg c in Adelaide. and here is Fridays forecast for Adelaide . No thunderstorm icon but a mention in the weather description as a chance The forecast rain will be welcome Friday 20 September Summary Min 12 Max 16 Rain easing. Possible rainfall: 5 to 15 mm Chance of any rain: 95% Adelaide area Cloudy. Very high (95%) chance of rain, easing to showers during the afternoon. The chance of a thunderstorm. Light winds becoming southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the morning then tending westerly 20 to 25 km/h in the middle of the day. Edited by user Thursday, 19 September 2019 3:59:40 PM(UTC)

Great to have a keen weather enthusiast join in SA. Have a great time mate. Look forward to your posts.
Watch out for spam mail in your pm box. Some desperado from another forum asked me to leave here and join them. Well. I don't like that sort of behavior but thought l would warn ya.
Bit wild in the NW district today. High winds and gusts and a top of 37.8at 3pm. Thats severe weather in my book
Gust to 63 recently.
Some big gust numbers elsewhere today
