8.5mm here for the first week of April. Lots of weeding for me as well. Your right Scott, can't trust the models 7 days out, they change by the run. GFS sticking to its guns with this one, 2 days in a row. Somewhere near Lizard Island next Sunday at the moment.

Hmm. Was thinking its after Easter and about time to drain the fuel out of the gennie, dismantle the cyclone kit etc. Then realised that there’s a cyclone over WA way, potential for another one near Darwin and as Scott says the SST is 28 degrees.

42mm Bunyip? You're a little further inland than us, I spose, and that lot was fairly coastal. Pretty sure we had an empty gauge at the start and this morning threw out 75mm. And it felt like 75mm! Unplugged everything upon the first rumble at the later stage but didn't see any lightning. Was enough to carry last weeks fertilizer out to the reef, or shouldn't I say that? Beautiful day today, yes. Was wondering if/when to plant seedlings. When hot they don't come up but based on your now sad ezperience, Bunyip, I'll go ahead and sow some in pots inside. Spent an hour knocking down grass and weeds in the vege garden this afternoon as well..I'll be planting my seedlings in pots first after hearing about your sneaky little showers up there bunyip and Dormant....I'm not a bit fan but i did put in a whole fence section of wing beans a year back which didnt really grow a lot at the time but now they have covered a whole slab of fence and are just booming...so i guess I'll just have to figure out a way to use them now....picked a couple of nice ripe pumpkins also today from a feral vine that will have to be pulled out in the vege beds....
and I guess we will see if SM's little low actually does form and bog the place up again...been a couple of just ripper sunny days down here but still to wet and boggy to get the mowing done..I need to get a bit of fert out too while before the ground gets to cold..will just wait and see what this low is going to do first though..

Blue sky here again this morning. WZ not showing to much rain for Cairns in the next week or so. A 20-40mm on Monday is about the max.

23mm in the gauge this morning.
Most from a short storm last night just after 9pm, and sort-of-rain on and off though the night. Overcast still, with occasional sunny breaks.

Big rain for us Tully types if this is right but these forecasts are always a week out with numerous changes before it happens...so we will wait and see. and try and get some mowing and spraying done now just in case it does eventuate..

Sorry about that Scott. If that map comes true, your in for a wet time ahead. Even Cairns looks to be on the 175mm line.

So TC Paul has been named and is headed for TI with winds of 35 knots. Cue the press and certain FB sites. CYCLONE HEADED FOR QLD COAST.

BOM saying the cyclone will be short-lived. On that track it should give us a nice SE flow for a few days. Edit at 1900: BOM has the cyclone no chance of impacting the Qld coast. After a few of their calls lately it could be a bit of a concern. Edited by user Thursday, 11 April 2024 7:21:37 PM(UTC)

Yesterday BOM was only at 15% of a cyclone even forming yet today there is a cat 2 sitting out there....and no weary, even Higgins states that it wont impact QLD..that must have been just so hard for him to write that... Yes Ron its likely to be a sloppy troughy thing at this stage though the heaviest rains have now been pushed back to mid-next week and onward...who knows we just wait and see..like SM mentions with some of the forecasts of late I'll beleive it when I see it.. Absolute cracker of a week dowm here though with no rain recorded..plenty of mowing and spraying finally getting done..... BTW I jumped the fence and climbed the cassowary bridge the other day...they had to build stairs to get up it as the actual slope is to steep to actually walk or climb up and then once you get to the bottom of the tarped area it drops off almost vertically to a creek and the train line below......40 million and counting so far and I'd say trying to even stabilize the slope will have ongoing costly issues.. BTW for perspective the tarped areas are right at the very top and dropping over the western side of the structure itself.... Sorry for the sideways pics I dont know how to fix it.. I can actually see the back part of my property at the base of the mountain in the first pic..its even closer then I thought... Edited by user Thursday, 11 April 2024 11:34:37 PM(UTC)
