The surface synoptic says the trough is in the NE of the state.
This band of rain coming through must be a cold front.
The winds are pretty much SW W across the state.
She will be out of the NE by this eveningSome very healthy rain totals from this band in the past 24 hrs in many districts. Ferny creek in the central district 31.2 mm A very productive front

A very impressive long wave trough about to arrive in western Vic tomorrow evening. Judging by what l have read in the thunderstorm tutorial we could see some good thunderstorms tomorrow night. I will have to try my hand at posting a lifted index map tomorrow it time permits Firstly .Impressive synoptic showing the closed isobars reaching right up to the tropics on this capture and the. Cold front reaching the sub tropics. If the winds in SA today are any pre indication , those North westerlies ahead of the change look horrible. The BOM observations already showing very strong gusts in the Mallee, Wimmera SW and central currently. That might go on , all night and all day tomorrow in those districts . Check BOM warnings for this one l suggest.

ACCESS R has the worst of those winds in the west overnight in the west.
There seems to be some easing during the day .
ACC r has upgraded this event for both SA and VIC with a stronger frontal band and l caught site of a surface eddies on the trough line tomorrow around 7pm So those studying storms. (Me too)
Maybe the chance of severe in S west VIC?
check BOM warnings for sure. I will be watching. Looks interesting.

Thank you Crikey.. Another day of not being able to dry washing, kids inside arguing and running across a supermarket car-park to stay dry. I guess I can't complain though. 500km north are in a severe drought.

Very warm start to the day here and it is nearly 22 degrees according to my weather station. I have a feeling it is going to go backwards though when the wind picks up. (Just on a side note, this is a local webcam to me, so I stay in bed and see what the weather is like outside without having to move https://www.rmys.com.au/live-webcam/)

It won't belong clare before we have to put on the air con. Its has been a slow build up to any spring warmth so far. The BOM issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 3.pm for the mornington peninsula 'The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:05 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Rye ocean beach and Sorrento. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Phillip Island, Rosebud and the area east of Rosebud by 3:35 pm and Cowes by 4:05 pm.'http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV21035.shtml

A few mm of rain for some in the west of the state today. Very hit and miss though. Casterton 10.8 mm was one of the higher totals.
Sunday night. Looks like a wet night across the southern coastline towns of Victoria.
Not exactly warm 7pm Melbourne airport 11deg but feels like 6.1
Mount Buller and Mt Hotham both below zero at 7pm
Highest forecast temperature in the state tomorrow is Mildura at a whopping 20deg c!
Horsham min 3 deg c tonight and 16 deg c tomorrow Tralgon in Gippsland min of 5deg c tonight and a max of only 13 deg c
Spring taking its time to warm up here
