Oh yes a lovely night of steady light rain, no need for the A/C :)
31mm here Can see where I need to clean a few spots in the driveway, but will wait for the good heavy stuff later today and get it all moving the right way.
Good having the new Greenvale radar up :)
Cheers

160mm this morning and a bit of a break in the rain, didn't get wet taking the dog for her run. :)
We had the pot belly going last night, Not really needed but just nice to sit and watch the rain with it burning.
No new warnings or major flooding anywhere, see what today brings.
Cheers.

160mm man thats epic, I "only" got 98mm which compared to the numbers you get seems small but still great rain for my area, and with it brought me over the magic 3000mm mark for the year currently at 3102mm for the year lets see what today brings as the final 24 hours for rain records for the year!!!! looks like tully will go over 5000mm for the year with todays figures looks like they got a bit over 100mm for last 24 hours. Ultra heavy weights babinda havent weighed in all month hopefully they send the records through after tomorrow. Im expecting big numbers from cape trib as well who havent reported in for the last 2months they might go close to the 5000mm mark as well. |

Thats a nice drop Bunyip..and great to see some out in the west 28..tropo it sounds like you guys have missed out a bit this year..the next few months might likely change that for you.. We had around the 150mm mark down along the beach areas of Mission Beach but probably lucky to get 100mm out here in the foothills.. So quite a dud flood event given that Cirns had set up numerous sandbagging stations... It sure has been lovely soaking rain though...I have been spending some time digging holes and planting areas that were previously detroyed by pigs and turkeys andthe ground has been been so hard and dry.. This will certainly soften it up a bit and water in what I have planted but as we all know once this low heads off to the SE we will be left with stinking hot still days for a while.. I dont even think I want to head out the reef in windless 36-37c weather and the trout will likely not be in bite mode as they were the same a week or so back. One every arvo would be great,- but that's just wishful thinking. Yeah Bunyip, I've had a new nylex pro on my iPhone shopping list for Bunnings for a while, but keep leaving the phone in the car, and forgetting. I've had 33 years of service from mine, bought new when I moved from town to Holloways. It's so yellow now, I can't read it from the back door with the binoculars any more. A new year,- so I need a new nylex. A belated xmas present.

We only got 4mm too. Had an EWN text at 5.30pm. Lightning started about 12.30am Radar showed storm here, sort of, about 1.30am. Momentary "rain" through dark morning, the last extremely faint sprinkle at 7am. So...that was it. The usual missing us thing. Lots of sheet lightning everywhere. No thunder. Looks like Dimbulah and Tableland had it good.

Some massive temperatures today, cairns racecourse just hit 39.2. airport 38.3, innisfail aero 39.1 and south johnston 39.1 !!!!
Still waiting for the 2021 rainfall to come in the bureau works at sloth speed but tully came in at just under 5100mm and will be hard to beat, it would take something special from cape tribulation to take the title I dont think babinda can do it this year. |

That's our weather not yours. Currently 33 degrees at 3pm, *might* have gone up as 35. I only look at the temps when I start to get uncomfortable. Oops, just found this in my browser... 8.45pm and still 33. My little cottage stays cool til 2-2.30pm, then it warms up and takes forever to cool down. Joys of insulation. LOL.

A low is expected to form on Saturday in the northern Coral Sea off the far north Queensland coast and initially move to the southeast away from the coast. The low is likely to develop on Sunday and turn to the west and approach Cape York Peninsula. The prospects to form into a tropical cyclone increase on Monday as the system near the coast, at this stage to the north of Cooktown before subsequently moving to the west southwest over land.
Likelihood of this system being a tropical cyclone in the Eastern Region on: Saturday:Very Low Sunday:Moderate Monday:High
