Yeah after the early wet stuff I'm sure it would be a bit of a let down. How's the bogie hole looking ?
We just had a very welcome little shower of about 6mm. Just been hot and humid down here, get a bit done early and get out of the heat, not up to full days out in it anymore.
Cheers

Interestingly, it's the first time I've seen seepage in the bank again for at least 6 or 7 years. Hordes of flying foxes then, branches and leaves broken and lying everywhere. Oops, sorry the pics are a bit big. Bogey Hole And this one is a bit further downstream from the weir.

Thanks for the pics.

The banks were always sodden, and you needed to be careful you didn't slip in places. It must've been 2013-14-ish when the creek dried up, apparently for the first time in 30 years or 60 years depending on who you talked to. Then the seepage stopped. We'd get a miserly "wet" season, and the creek dried up every year. I think 2021 is the first Dry Season in years that the creek has not dried up. Thank goodness. We're still on level 3 water restrictions, since 2017. The council finally found another water source, four or five km further out. Everything is complete - except for power. Ergon can't connect it until January or February. When that's finally connected and the town is using that water, the local water table should start replenishing itself. Be good if the seasons turn for awhile, replenishing a few aquifers. The floods south are fantastic for so much country and the absorption into the aquifers, it will be building a few years of reserves.
Well the radar is about spot on tonight. Very local showers just pushing onto the coast and just along the ridges. Was sitting in a paddock just on sunset and getting spits but not 400m up the slope it was flogging down. Could hear and see it as a wall.
Cheers

Hope everyone has a great day today. We're happy at Chillagoe after 12mm late yesterday afternoon drifting on into the evening. Grass & weeds growing fast. Edited by user Saturday, 25 December 2021 1:18:39 PM(UTC)

Lucky you 28, I'm sure it was very much appreciated.
I can hear rumbles here from a small cell popping up out the back. It sure is hot and sticky enough for a nice storm. Fingers crossed.
Cheers

Fairly decent showers, but they are gone in 5 mins. The temps in Darwin over the last 3 or 4 days have been surprisingly low,- both max.& mins. Max temps of 28.5°, 27.3° & 27.6° so far today. Mins of 24°, 23.1° & 24.9°. They're getting half decent rain, which is keeping the temps down. A bit of the same here would be nice.

Yeah. Darwin in the Wet is beautiful. I've been looking at the radar in envy. Can't complain though, with 33mm good rain overnight, still sprinkling in the morning, and a relatively cool day today.

Yeah Scott The heat seems just that little bit harder to deal with each year. Rain would be nice.
A very light sprinkle late yesterday arvo will only serve to make it morn humid today :)
Lucky you again 28, 33mm would be lovely.
Cheers

8mm this morning after drizzling on & off all night. Continued to drizzle on and off throughout today.
Nice & cool, a bit on the fresh side. Added a second blanket last night. Lol. Currently a nippy 25.3°C in the house. 24 outside. Might have to out warmer clothing on.
Definitely not a day to do the laundry, even the dishes haven't dried...
