I'm sure that was a nice little surprise for you 28..
Yeah not much going on weather wise, even the coastal showers that were predicted
didn't really show up for us. Not that I mide to much, we have had a couple of those
tropical days that the southerners all come for, lol

Good times on that race, They used to do one from Burra to Broken hill back in the '80's
I can remember them coming through the little town of Olary on the way. Crazy stuff.
But good for the charities..

Cheers

5mm overnight. That was pretty nice.

John Williamson even wrote a song about the Burra to Broken Hill race. Here was me thinking we were original.

4mm this morning .. the coastal showers have arrived.
still getting showers now.

Yes Johns song gets a play here from time to time. Had a step uncle compete in it one year, maybe '86
Got medallions here somewhere, that they sold to raise money.
I was a young jackaroo in outback SA , we would spend the weekend at the pub to watch them come through,
They setup an overnight camp on the town common, with music and BBQs was great time.

Cheers

Just checked the distance, more than double Mareeba to Chillagoe. That's serious running. Ours seems like a 3 day party.

Last few mornings it feels like it's wet but not. Burns off during the day to another hot afternoon.

Brrrrr. am immobilised, one dog night and any lower and I would need to buy another.
At 2am weird explosions, am suspecting someone stored their ammo in their indoor wood stove and forgot on this so far coldest night of the year.

No explosions down this end..

Yes was the first night with a cotton blanket on.
Was also the first night with the pot belly going after I moved it to the middle
of the verandah from the western end, with the prevailing SE breeze it is now
adding warm air into the house..
Not really necessary but it's just nice to have a fire.

28 I found those medallions , I'll get pics and post if your interested.

Cheers

Thanks, it'd be interesting.

Chilly morning out here. Very very nice days. Didn't get past 29.4 degrees today. Cooled down about 4.30pm. Sleep with a doona for most of the year, but added a light blanket.

Sorry they are on their side, don't seem to be able to rotate them.
January in outback SA running along the hwy pushing a wheelbarrow don't know why they thought
that was a good idea. Laugh

Back to the weather: Just beautiful days here with a light land breeze in the morning and
gentle NE arvo breeze.

Cheers

Thanks Bunyip, that was interesting.

Funnily, when I clicked the first link in the email notification it took me straight to the images and they were all up the correct way. When I click on the images directly from your post they come out sideways. Blink

So much for the Dry Season. It's raining, proper rain. Bit of thunder & lightning around earlier in the evening.

We had 5mm of rain around 2pm-ish, and then raining on and off with decent rain from about 6pm, still raining now.

Last couple years we've had 3 or 4 days in June or July of misting rain, not rain gauge stuff.

This is so welcome.

Wow 28 thunder and lightning lucky you. Just [censored]coastal showers here, with another 10mm overnight.
Yesterday morning was just beautiful but the arvo turned to showers.
Slow to clear this morning, still getting drizzly stuff.

Cheers

Yes, very lucky. Lived here 12 years & this is the first real rain in June.

46mm in the gauge this morning.

The general store got 100mm, but most people got in the 40s.

The general store just had their main big fridge fixed, and the lightning took it out again...!

We had a thunderstorm the same day with a good downpour...it was quite a surprise..!

Geez last night was definitely a 2 dog night..

My 40 kg 9 month old American Bulldog pup had a couple of goes at sneaking in under the blankies with me and the staffie...

The 10 day synoptic charts show this dirty great High pressure system barely moving over the whole period so these horrible Sou-easters are here to stay for a while....not great at all for the start of Mackeral season...

and I thought it was supposed to be a warmer, wetter winter...

Yes, it was pretty cool last night. 17 degrees in the house and I think about 12 on the deck. Gorgeous day though, cool at times.

Yes been enjoying the pot belly stove and a couple of ports after dinner :)
Hopefully we get some nice fishing weather soon, but no sign of any Mackeral up this way yet from all I talk too.

Very heavy overcast this morning, with a few drips falling here and there, not rain or drizzle just drips :) lol

Cheers

Brrrrr. At Kewarra for a week with sis & her extended family. One of those beachside AirB&Bs.

Cold. They live south, and are finding it cold. The pool got used when the kids were here, but way too cold to dip my big toe in.

Apparently sprinkled early morning, and the odd brief try mid to late morning.

Edit: it's actually raining... For a little while.

Shame about the weather for your family 28..

The missus's best friend arrived today from the USA visiting for 2 weeks, first time over here ...bit disappointing that we cant get them out to the reef or islands during that period and its certainly looks like the weather is not going to play the game for any of the period..

https://farmonlineweather.com.au/models/

In fact going by the charts the slow moving high pressure systems will intensify even further with no trough between them and bring heavy rain as well as even stronger winds next week...

So much for "Beautiful one day, perfect the next"..
