Hmmmm.. BOM aren’t mucking around with the warning

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is expected to develop along the North Tropical Coast from late on Wednesday night and into Thursday. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 120 and 200 mm are likely. Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is also possible, with six-hourly totals of 200 to 300 mm. There remains significant uncertainty over the timing and location of this threat, and a separate severe thunderstorm warning will be issued if this eventuates.

Your spot on there Weary, we haven't had a forecast like that for this part of the coast for a while. Interesting couple of days ahead.

I've had two EWNs in the last few days stating the above warning - and nothing.

The joys of living in the cornerstone of 3 weather districts.

Although we've had beautiful cool overcast days. (Anything under 30°C.)

Looks like we are going to get some proper wet season rain..although some of you daintree mob have had some big falls already..Do you think the BOM are concerned about the extent of the rain and flooding Weary..?

I put the new gauge up this arvo with high expectations of running water over the top but not being run over by the missus again...

I guess we will see on both fronts..LOL

Better go and top up the emergency tank and turn off the gravity flow system from the creek..I reckon the creek water might be pretty muddy by morning...weatherzone has 40-80mm for Wednesday here so its seems we should expect it to set in from tonight...

Not concerned, nice and dry in Melbourne, just warning.

Good old Melbourne..35c scorcher one day, 20 degree misery the next...

and the last weather run have massively backed the weather off for us South of Cairns but still predicting a lot of rain for the Daintree area...

its anybodies guess.

Lol. Flew to Melbourne mid January 2020. Predicting 45° heatwave. Dressed accordingly. On arrival pilot announced 15°. Then a miserable 3hour wait at Southern Cross station for a train to Warrnambool. Froze for the whole week.

Good morning weather watchers :)

Despite the forecast wide spread apocalyptic weather, I have only had 124mm here this morning lol
The creeks are at their normal just over the road and all is normal for a wet season morning with
the monsoon in our neighborhood.

I left cattle on the river last night, but I'm off to move them now. If it sets in as forecast we
could see a bit of a rise.

Might light the pot belly when I get back, it's nice to have warm dry air in the house in these events.

Cheers

8mm here.

Looks a lot better over the coast than out here.
Still nice and cool though at 26degrees. (Why would you want to have summer down south.)

96mm in the gauge this morning here. Still raining steadily. It should continue to be a very wet day. I'm glad we don't get that Melbourne weather up here. You have to love the tropics.

59mm here this morning. Some good monsoon rain over the last couple of days. Nothing that I would put in the severe weather category though. A little bit of backyard flooding here and there. Nice falls in the Daintree and Cassowary Coast areas.

YTD: 930.5mm
