Wow Scott you must be in a hot zone :) Funny enough I must be too, as we lost power very early Tuesday morning, only our little area so it was not detected by ergon, a pole fuse.. So it was 10:30 by the time it was back on yesterday. Then at around 13:00 we had another storm and a strike in the yard, I jumped about 2 foot off the ground as I was talking to the dog and walking from the kitchen to the veranda.. Being a gun dog she was straight on point :lol: Phone line is dead here, couldn't put myself through the telstra terrorist call centre yesterday, see how I go today. But seriously thinking it might be time to drop telstra once and for all.. My starlink is running on dial up speeds @ $8.50pm and doing most of what we need, can get a bit of lag if the mrs is watching reels :) But it will stream youtube on the TV when we turn off the phones so don't need much more than that. Would like a nice rain day, these hot mornings are ferocious. 49mm in the gauge this morning. All from a heavy storm yesterday arvo. The weather seems to have lifted here so far today. Hopefully another storm later.

Like Scott said funny trend with the cardwell to townsville area pulling huge rainfall numbers last year and continuing into this year. The opposite for my area i only recorded 2777mm last year the driest in 5 years and im off to a slow start compared to most others for 2026 with not quite 500mm for the month yet. See what happens the rest of the wet season but certainly my rainfall has been hit and miss, Mossman doing much better a few places around there over 700mm for the year already. |

Must of slept well as I didn't hear the 32mm that fell overnight. :)
Mid next week and on looks fairly wet by the forecasts at this stage, see what happens ..
Got a new grand kid dew today, no movement so far by all reports :)

3.5mm in showers yesterday arvo. That's 525mm in the gauge for January, the lowest in the last 4 (23/658mm, 24/649.5mm, 25/676.5mm). Still a good total though.

Well seems like when the lightning hit it also messed up my puter...waiting on a replacement thingamejig to see if I can resurrect it...
Bunyip has the little takka put in an appearance yet..?..hope all is well with him and mum..
Aramex guy said the temp billboard at Tully school was reading 39c yesterday...man it was a stinker ..had my 30 year old french wwoofer just about collapse just dragging away a few marang branches I was polesawing..then today he tells me he has a pacemaker and was feeling pretty woozy..also said it may be because he doesnt eat breakfast..only lunch and dinner.....How the hell would anyone expect to start at 6am doing physical work in the tropics and not first eat till after midday...Man some people are just fukking idiots..!
Anyway we will see what happens through the week rainfall wise with our forecasts backing off a bit on rainfall now...some cooler and overcast days would be very nice...
and stop bragging please weary about your wonderful bloody internet..so originally we were told that the starlink was going to be a like for like cost on our current plan because we are in a geographically challenged spot and thats the only option for us besides copper landline which the tech guy was saying is unfixable..then on the phone they now told us that its going to be 125 per month so I told them where to stick it and we will just get the technitions out to continually fix it as per usual...the dude then hung up on me...so i guess we will see what happens

Good morning weather folks :)
A beautiful 85mm in the gauge this morning & my forecast says a wet week ahead. Yes some overcast days would be great.
Grandson arrived around 14:30 yesterday, she likes to bake them to well done.. Mum & bub doing great :)
Scott, I know you have had a few frenchies over the years so does this one really surprise you ? :)
I don't know how you deal with twatstra, I'm still waiting for someone to turn up here, they just keep sending me
txt messages saying sorry we can't fix your line here is a new date..
This whole internet thing is a con @ over $100 per month , I just don't see what I get being worth that.
39° at Tully would be very uncomfortable, had a few 37° here on my back veranda and not keen on doing to much
on those days at all..

Hey mate havent done for a while still have the rifle set up for it but havent the time to reload for that cartridge anymore. I spend all my time with the humble lithgow la 101 22lr eliminating "pests" love that little gun a lot of fun, 8-32 sightron s3 scope zoom into the eye balls |

31.5mm in the gauge here this morning, first rain for Feb. GFS forecast is a bit average at the moment but it is February, you never know.

Congrats Bunyip..geez you must have been getting a bit impatient.. and yeah Frenchies keep coming up with ways that even surprise me with their stupidity...Nice fella actually but dumb as dog sh!t..invited him to the range last weekend but he preferred to sit at the local coffee shop for 6 hours reading Womans day and New idea...I kid you not..!... https://www.facebook.com...083312168840.-2207520000Tropo i dont doubt you could take the eyeballs of a rat out with that set-up...Lithgow make a serious bit of kit...I have used that model in 22 mag as well and the groups were all through 0ne ragged hole... Plinkster never heard of Lithgow before but became an instant fan...check out his youtube channel ..he is one of the best gun guys on there..He makes hitting a 4 inch steel at 100 yards shooting offhand with a .22 handgun look easy..he also did one video shooting a coke can with a .22 rifle at 700 yards..

Hey Scott yep seen his videos before good stuff, I bought an aftermarket lighter trigger for my lithgow as well as bolt shims, shooting prone off rear squeeze bag and atlas bipod on front it is certainly very accurate. I tested a whole bunch of ammo from budget CCI to the good stuff lapua, eley match and RWS 50 they all shot well but the best for mine was SK pistol match shot very tight at 50m and makes small work of minah birds and other small pests. |

68mm up here this morning :) & loving it... Back at the dentist this morning, got this one filled might give it a couple of years he recons.. Wants to pull another one, but I said it's not hurting so it can stay for now.. Scott, GT yes we have 3 consecutively numbered Lithgow's , & they all shoot, we did get the crown of Mrs B's done but I'm not convinced it made much difference. Yeah old Plinkster does a good video, there was a big black dude who did a review of the 101's and he was an instant convert as well. I really wanted a Woomera and was thinking of doing a bit of "F" class but with all that is going on that is not going to happen. Funny GT, the minor birds don't seem to cross the river, I did shoot a pair a few years back down around the cattle yards, but have not seen any more.. Good stuff keeping the pressure on them over there.. That telescope :) would be awesome , wish we had rabbits up here. Found another 52mm in the gauge this morning :) , Some good storm action around 03:30
Dragon fruit are going nuts, I've had the dehydrator running flat out pumping them through
as fast as I can, Think I have a few days grace now till the next flush hits..
Cockatoos are doing there best to sneck in and attack the Rambo tree.
It's always feast or famine here :)

Averaging about 30mm per day for the last few. Most of the rain has been overnight. Good heavy showers. Another 14mm so far today. The minor bird population in Cairns seems to have sky-rocketed in the last 30years. Incredibly you need a gun licence for a kiddies air rifle these days so that could be part of the problem. They were great fun when we were kids. Feb: 87.5mm YTD: 612.5mm Edit: Bit of research: I've owned a 12 gauge break barrel shotgun and a break barrel air rifle.
