Pissing down now too, weary...lost the satellite signal during the run chase in the Big bash...
It looks like quite a bit of rain converging over the far north tonight...
The first week of the new year looks like being quite a wet one...
Even 28 may be complaining about rampant mould growth in a week or 2...
Hopefully we can condemn 2020 to the depths of hell and summon in a better year for all in 2021..

G'day weather watchers, off to a good start here with 66mm in the gauge this morning.
Got the weather warning around 17:30 :) hardly severe, just a lovely arvo / evening storm.

We got part of that "severe storm". Gave us nice steady rain.
40mm in the gauge this morning, 8mm from yesterday some time.
As for mould, the end of the Dry was nowhere near as dry as it usually is. Humidity over 30%, when it's usually about 10% or less. Pulled something out of the cupboard last week, with what looks to be a mild case of mould, has to be mould - never having seen it here in ten years.
Still overcast, but a bit muggy outside. The house stays nice & cool til early afternoon.
The yard is out of control. Desperately needs mowing & tidying. And it so so green...

I finished the year off with 3452mm which was 50mm short of the year before.
Annual average for the past 10 years is: 4266mm. started the year off with an even 100mm.

A quick heavy shower/storm that throws down an inch before it lightens off to an evening of soaking rain has been the norm for the past 2 afternoons. Just over 40mm each time. Went and chased a couple of swamp donkeys down in the rain last night at Tinaroo, my mate got a 112 and a 115, I lost both my hookups. |

Power went out around 23:30 and is still out. could be tomorrow as it requires specialist climbers as the bucket trucks can't reach.
Bloody rare and endangered Wuhan flu bats
First Cyclone advise has been issued for the gulf.
Bring on some rain.

Yep. Some more rain would be good. Planning to go to Cairns tomorrow. Then I get to see how the old low Camry does in the mud and slush.
20mm in the gauge this morning. Most larger falls are overnight.

Hmm, forecast for Cairns is 150 - 200 ml for Mon. that should fill copperlode 😁😁

Copperlode is sitting at 73% now, so it held up well during the dry.
Tinaroo is a bit lower, at 46.97%, which is still a shed load of water, considering it's area.

Yep I think the creeks will get a good flush out over the next few days..
Santa bought the missus a fancy new baitcaster and overhead light game setup and it would have been nice to get her onto a swamp donkey or 2 this coming week..
Dont think its gunna happen now....
Tinaroo might be full by the end of the week..
Ronfishes did you hookup on trolled lures or baits..?

Lawns are mown, Power is back on.
Genny is serviced ready for what ever we get.
A lot depends on how far North or South it goes as it heads East.
I hope everyone is stocked up and has a plan for a few wet days,
not the time to be panic buying.

31mm yesterday and overnight.
Drove to Cairns this morning. Eureka Creek west of Dimbulah had come over the bridge sometime. Bit of vegetation on the carriageway. Went up to the causeway instead. Fairly high, but not too close. Skies looked good. No rain around. Decided to keep going. Water had been over the road at Arriga.
Came back sooner than planned. At Mareeba you could see a wall of black to the north. Mutchilba to Dimbulah dumped rain so hard it washed all the mud off the car.
Nice to see water lying everywhere, and all the dry creeks running again. Pump Creek causeway at Almaden was running, but only just.
Looking forward to a slow low now. 😀

Gutters done and roof cleaned off, a few tree branchs pole-sawed and a few more chain-sawed and a couple of bits of tin in strategic locations to minimize water intrusion... Just need to turn off gravity feed creek water supply before any deluge and we are ready for whatever comes.. Need a new gennie though .. No dunny paper but a stop at the bottle shop did occur.. Just as well you came back today 28..Now that Cyclone Imogen has formed you may have been stuck in Cairns for a few days if the rains come off as expected... Sounds good Ron..I have never fished Tinaroo and dont fish lures much so far... dont know where to start but am looking forward to trying and trying to get the missus interested..just maybe not this week... I always have stocks of funny paper. With a 2 hour drive to the shops you don't want to run out. Lol. Yes Scott it was intended as a day trip, instead of my usual overnight.
