Interesting image Weary, do you think they are some sort of naval defense system?
Radar is starting to fill in nicely :) Some cracking thunder earlier, but the storm was to the south.
These NW flows historically bring good rain to this area, just need to see where the convergence forms as to who gets the lions share.
Cheers

Well fizzer, what a let down. To be expected really, our weather is all hype these days. Flood watches and warnings for every day events.
Only 8mm this morning:(
Maybe it will build on the coast today. Just have to wait and see.
Cheers

We had 22mm up until 5am, not too sure, but I'd say we've had over 50mm since. |
Records for 2022: 1520mm 2023: 2710mm 2024: 951.6mm (no records April-Sept) |

we only had 20mm overnight since I put up the rain gauge just on dark..
Bunyip the latest GFS raincast run shows us down this way with 500mm from the event and tapering right off to 100mm up your way..it was the other way around a day or so back...
Of course it will all be dependent on the direction the low continues to take so all we can do is wait and see and not put too much faith in the everchanging forecasts.....

So I see a few 100mm falls since 09:00 starting to show up on the BoM Might not be a total fizzer for you guys South of Cairns. Yeah Scott, as always it's hard to pick which model will get it right, I was hopeful of a big event for us. But am also happy if you guys get it, of coarse the best outcome would be if it tracked down the guts of the state and gave everyone a drink. Lots of rumbles out the back up here, maybe tonight will give us a nice total. Cheers |

No rain today beyond a faint sprinkle early daylight hours, and a very slight effort early this afternoon. Gauge is bone dry. Hoping for some more tonight, as it seems to be when we get most of our rain. Cyclone Owen whipped by to the south of us at a great rate of knots and it didn't affect us at all, not one tiny bit. Hoping Imogen does much much better. Edit: Oops, there was 31mm in the guage from overnight rain. Edited by user Monday, 4 January 2021 6:10:59 PM(UTC)

About 90mm to about 3:30 this afternoon, we also copped that storm as it headed down the railway that has been today. Smashing down again now. |

It looks like you guys are going to get some serious rain over the next few days. Enjoy the action and I hope all the trees keep standing up the right way and just get a bl**dy good drink.

I rarely get rain coming through the windows on the northern side of the house,- there were puddles on the floor before I noticed it. Nothing the squeeze mop couldn't fix. I see the Copperlode alert had 210mm since 09:00,- not a bad drop.

:( :( Well only 15mm here. I see some very nice totals around Cairns and getting better as you go south.
Take care if your getting it. Stay home and enjoy a flood day.

Yes it was.
Day has lightened up somewhat. Wondering if or how much rain we'll get in the next few days.
I'm greedy. I want more.
