Already over for you @28, sorry. Yep. Definitely over here. Once there's the big highs sitting over the country, there's no way we get any rain. We had a couple good months, but a third month would've been good. The creek is flowing, but I think it will dry up again before the next wet.

Bloody windy last couple of days. Lots of trees down with it.
25mm here this morning and windy cold rain now.
Chillagoe is looking great 28, we were out that way Tuesday, windy then too.
Was chatting to an Almaden local who said they were in for big rain yet and not to right off the season.
Who knows? Not the BoM that's for sure.

Yes Bunyip, it often rains at Easter, it could still happen. It's also been known to rain on wheelbarrow race contestants at Almaden in May.
Chillagoe is looking good, but fading fast. Green, but not the vivid green it was when we had daily rain.
Humidity is down in the 40s. Laundry dries quickly again.

We followed a storm from Chillagoe all the way to Dunbar station in April years ago. The road was a bit tricky, especially through the black soil. I think if we had of stopped, we would've been stopped for a day or so lol. Around 6pm we met a fuel truck near the Kowanyama turn off, they had run out of fuel in town. It had taken him all day to get from Kowanyama to there. It was completely covered in mud. A few days later on our return, the trucks wheel ruts in the black soil were huge but the soil was rock hard by then. I think they have put good gravel over the whole lot now. |

I haven't been past Ferguson crossing. It's April already, we've been promised, yet again, that the Chillagoe section & the middle section will be sealed this year... Apparently there is now no money for the Almaden section, plus the Ootan turnoff has to be realigned. Sigh...

Nobody on here from Mareeba is a bit sad, looks like a nice little local storm.
Still very high humidity down here and warm last night and it feels like again tonight.
But sadly I think that is a wrap for our WET '20-'21.
Was able to spend an hour on a mates hill pulling regrowth today, dry enough to walk up
but wet enough to pull trees. Will Grazon what's left in another week or so.

Yep. That's it. Reckon the Dry has arrived. Notice TC Seroja up southwest of Timor. Looks headed back towards the coast around Learmonth. The TC a bit further west looks like it could come in to the coast as well. I thought Queensland was supposed to be wetter than WA. Not since I've been here. (ex Sydney-ite years ago.)

I was able to spend an hour on a mates back deck drinking free beers, .... I'm thinking I got the better deal, Bunyip.

This fella owns a place here but lives in Germany. Most years he comes out at least once for 6 weeks, Normally I do no more than drop in every week or so and make sure all is good and check cameras ect, but with this bat flu who knows when he will be able to come out again. So I'm just doing a bit here and there to combat the jungle, run his vehicle and trap a few rats. Will set a cat trap there this week as I could smell cat piss very strong around the front verandah area yesterday. Weather.. Looks like a real cracker of a day, even a little patch of Mackerel sky this morning early with the sunrise. Cheers |

Hellish night for those without air/con. Bom observations showed a rise in temperature around 11.30pm last night and on the verandah we both suffered trying to sleep.
You're a good man, Bunyip, there's lots of work maintaining places for absent owners, I don't think they realise that once left the job multiplies out of sight, I doubt you get paid for every little thing.

It's still quite warm out here too. Nothing like it sounds for you Dormant. We have a lot of absentee owners in Chillagoe too. Convenient for them. Except for those with bores, everyone lets their yards go brown between the rain. Even when it rains and you can see the grass growing, you can still stretch it to 3 week mows. EDIT: Late afternoon now. We had about 4mm of rain at 4pm from part of those scattered showers. Nice. Edited by user Thursday, 8 April 2021 5:50:12 PM(UTC)

Been really quite warm and muggy for this time of year, with the tease of afternoon showers. More like build up weather. Scored 6.2mm in a fast moving shower from the west last night. Only 1 lightning bolt showed up on the tracker though. Friends up at Yungaburra got a decent drop I think. |

The night time temps have certainly become more comfortable for sleeping...
Some of the forecasts are showing significant daily rain for the next week or so for us..
I hope its just a last wet season gasp and not a lead in to that horrible autumn/winter rain that just drags on till mid year....

Seriously Cairns PM forecast has a 50% (medium) chance of rain for the rest of Sunday...... Meanwhile the whole Cairns and surrounds is covered in rain on the radar. You don't even have to get out of your friggin armchair to know how wrong that is! Sposed to go to mission tomorrow, hate driving down there at the best of times let alone when it's like this... Where did that rain over Cairns and Tableland come from! Last time I looked it was patchy. We caught a shower this afternoon just after 2pm - 5mm. Moved by fairly quickly. Edited by user Sunday, 18 April 2021 8:18:51 PM(UTC)

Rained all night, and still coming down. BoM was a long way off the mark with yesterdays forecast.
What a joke. Looks like about 115mm in the gauge here since 09:00h,- - Gordonvale up to 155mm, and about 220mm for Innisfail aero.
Might be a couple of days of this. Good snoozing weather.
