Another short afternoon storm after a truly oppressive day today. Only 10mm out of this one but still drops the temp a bit.

Looks from the radar that Gordonvale has had a storm every afternoon this week. Then they move north and just miss me.😬

This afternoons one was quite fierce just south of G'vale, only managed 8.5mm here but I drove through it and wouldn't be surprised if there was 30-50mm down there. Peets bridge got 37mm yesterday. No guages down there that I know of (Deeral area)

We might've walked past each other... I went to Mareeba yesterday. Caught the ("new") Chillagoe Bus, good aircon, but still can't keep out the dust.

Didn't notice any beetles in Mareeba. Unobservant I guess. lol. Just as long as they don't come out here I'm happy. We get enough small black beetles as it is, and they smell, like the stink bug infestations we get.

Last night would probably have been the hottest I've experienced in a long time. Although I'd like a bit more tree-growing weather to get up my shade-purpose oleanders, roll on the cooler weather please.

Did I mention they're finally working on two sections of the road? The section closest to Chillagoe, which should've been done as a whole with the previous work. The middle section with the red sludge hill and the grid - although it looks like they might leave out the few hundred metres each side of the grid, like they did with the re-sheeting work about 6-7 years ago. But the Almaden section might not get done for years, in spite of the rip-your-wheels off washouts on both sides of the road and across the Ootan turnoff.

Yep we copped it here good too. 47.5mm one large tree down several fruit trees flattened and snapped off was pretty hectic.

Daintree village got a whopping 119mm I have noticed that daintree village has had a lot of big totals since november last year, what a shame the bureau hasn't been recording it in their data base, they are probably in front of everyone on the north tropical coast.

No rain. But noticed a bit of lightning.

Quick look at the radar & nothing showing anywhere close. Amazed to see lightning from so far away. Must've been a bit spectacular for those under it.

Nights are still super hot, probably the hottest nights we've had for years.

Impressive light show last night, no rain to record here tho. Took a pic the night before as the second storm for that afternoon cruised by and left us with nothing as well.
