Well it really has turned into a cold wet week. 40mm this morning 12mm yesterday I've had the pot belly stove burning each day this week by about 08:30 going through till 21:30. Really makes a difference to how wet it feels in the house and brings the temp up a couple of °C , just takes the edge off the chill.
Looks like an unusual event with this rain band going from Arnhem land to Sydney. Lets see just what it drops and if we see some good old fashioned winter floods in the south.
Cheers

Definitely a lot fresher out here. Blanket over the doona nightly. Jumpers & uggs til bedtime. Days are nice, but intermittently overcast.
Ants still maintaining their mini-volcanoes. The mock orange has no idea - most are green, but one had two flowers, another had one flower...

4mm in the gauge this morning.
Sprinkled on and off all afternoon, with occasional "rain". lol. Haven't looked at the gauge, don't want to jinx it.
Not particularly cold. Still around 27 degrees inside.

Well, 97mm overnight, bloody freezing (for Cairns) yesterday. It’s weird to have my pool overflowing in July.

Haha 28, we were talking about hot water bottles just yesterday. And wow 54mm in July is truly amazing, but i'm sure well received.
I'm hoping we see the sun today, it will be 10 days since we have and this grey & cold is starting to do my head in. I need new ugg boots.
The forecast is for dry weather but still a fair breeze, would like the wind to drop a bit more.
Cheers

All these wonderful falls everywhere.
So cold in Cairns last night I had to make a hot water bottle. (Never leave home for an overnight without a kids size in the bottom of my bag.) 🥶😁

Cold again here. Still only just 15° at 8am. No idea what temp outside, I'm still under the doona, with 2 blankets on top. Lol.
Conflicted about wishing for warmer weather, I don't want 40° days to get here any quicker.

Think winter's over. Considerably warmer at night.
Ants have gone absolutely mad building nests. Everywhere. Getting a bit overwhelming. I've never seen so many before, here, or anywhere else.

Was discussing this with a property owner yesterday, he wants to start spraying But I want to wait another 2 weeks or so just to make sure it starts to warm up and the weeds really get a kick on. As for ants nothing out of the usual here. I wonder if we are in for a hell of a summer after what has just passed in the UK? Cheers |

Nice warm days, cool at night, no heater necessary though.
Brilliant blue skies, with not a cloud.
In spite of still being green out here there were a couple fires to the north-east last week, and another to the south yesterday. Smoke last week was a bit uncomfortable for a few hours, but smoke to the south seems to be blowing away from us.
Was a bit cold for the Chillagoe Festival on 16th. We were all rugged up, and of course you could tell the southerners with their shorts & sundresses. LOL.

Just been blowing down here, slow starts to the days with gray mornings till it burns off but cold and windy. Had drizzle this morning with dawn.
Needing to water a couple of times a week.
Cheers
