Hope everyone is prepared & stays safe. Hope it doesn't intensify.

Power went out here at 8pm last night. Apparently several poles burned in the fires.

Then the phone went out & just came back on now. Power is still out.

yeah they are pretty much all got your place as the bulleye mate...

JTWC has it at 55 knots at landfall while BOM has Cat3..hope its closer to the 55 knot mark and moves through quickly..

Bloody slow now though isnt it ..still 3 more days to have to wait and worry...

It will certainly scare a few Cairns people if the models start to show it hitting there..

I can't imagine. Hopefully not a bad one.

It's looking pretty washed out right now, although still a Cat2. Tried to post a screenshot, but it wouldn't load.

Edit:
BOM now has Advice 1 landfall between Port Douglas and Cairns.
JTWC has it north of Daintree again.
Just to confuse us...

Your right 28, it is getting confusing as usual. Jasper has taken our minds off how dry it is, your burning power poles are a good example. Hopefully it brings some rain.

Edit: It did look more impressive today on the Vis image than the Ir.

JTWC now has it tracking south of Cairns...quite a big change from the previous track..

https://www.metoc.navy.m...jtwc/products/sh0324.gif

Wouldnt be at all surprised to have it right through my backyard.

It's a crazy cyclone. Or just the typical Coral Sea cyclone.

JTWC doesn't usually show this many track changes. Looks like they have no idea either.

Edit 5.40am

BOM Advice 3 now has track at Port Douglas as a Cat2.

JTWC still on Warning 23 with it crossing south of Cairns.

and now JTWC have it back to that north of Cairns Bunyip track again...

But BOM has also said it wont re-intensify as much so thats good news...might just turn out to be a wet and squally dud in the end really and lots of people will end up with truckloads of mouldy bread and spoiled milk....

and the FB weather influencers will no doubt have picked up lots of new paid subscribers for just posting up the same info that we have all been seeing for free...

Waiting waiting waiting ....

Might put a few tools away today, get the boat out of it's shed and sit it on the ground. The boat shed will get squashed..
Sharpen the saws & spare chains.
Then back to waiting...

Cheers

Yeah thats all you can do mate..

Hopefully doesnt create too much of a mess with your trees and garden though..

During Larry and Yasi I just parked by bigger boat outside away from trees and put the bungs in added some water..apart from being full of leaves it was all good....smaller boat I left in the shed during Yasi and because of broken windows my concrete mixer blew over and busted the motor cowl ...

Since Yasi I have significantly fortified the shed and would likely even bunker down in the granny flat flat inside the shed if we get a cat 4 or 5 here again..

This blow is a bloody long and slow wait isnt it..

Yeah, Scott, I was going to say it’s not looking good for you given everyone is saying it’s going to hit Cairns.

Pretty weird day today, ended up bloody hot and hasn't cooled down that much either. Ground is still dry as a bone, wonder if this will cause excess runoff and leaf litter etc blocking drains etc.

Not as hot today as it has been. Dead calm a lot of the time, no breeze.

Grass and weeds started shooting after that week of rain we had -- and kept going and going, so yards are green again. Almost ready for a mow. Crazy for Chillagoe.

We had the first band of rain pass over us early evening, probably around 5-5.30pm. Must've evaporated before it reached the ground. Felt a few specs, then nothing. A few bands have passed over us since, and nothing.

BOM says Palmerville and Chillagoe will get the damaging wind gusts, so everything but a couple chairs and small tables has gone into the shipping container. Neighbours haven't bothered with anything...

At 7.49 pm the BOM has Jasper crossing north of Port Douglas. JTWC Warning 26 which should be updated soon, also has it crossing near Port Douglas. Looks like they're starting to agree with each other.

1030pm and just starting to get a little bit gusty with the odd spot of rain.

Same here Ron, the front yard is past dry and crispy, it's dead.

Got 1mm in the gauge this morning, amazing. A few dark clouds around and the wind is starting to swing around to the SE.

JTWC and BOM have it crossing near or north of Port Douglas while GFS still near Cairns.

They're forecasting up to 140k/hr tomorrow, that could be interesting.

Just received a leave immediately alert for people living in the Cairns storm surge red zone. There must be something happening. Luckily we're in the yellow zone here.

Gusty with showers now and then here at the moment.
