Man she's muggy out there, couple of storms have died right on our doorstep the last 2 days and steamed it up even more...

The weather seems to have returned to normal for this time of year.

No rain here since Tuesday.

Edit: White Rock total for the year 3308.5mm, Tully Sugar Mill 3387.2mm. A couple of good storms and we could beat Tully. That would be a first.

Merry Christmas weather watchers :)

I was very lucky and our power was restored yesterday at about the same time it went out 11 days earlier :)
The Ergon boys did an amazing job and out of town crews will continue to work even today.
Still a lot of work ahead of them. Daintree village is running on a big generator and I think the network
is gone further up the valley by the sounds of things.

Amazing weather this last week helping to dry out after this event.

Agree it’s extremely poor that there is no offical gauge somewhere like palm cove, considering the size of cairns and its surrounds only two offical gauges is poor. Likely a fair bit of difference between palm cove and surrounds and the airport or the racecourse.

Innisfail has many more stations than cairns area

Despite the storms going all around us we only got 5mm this morning. Glad we don't get the wild storms like the Goldy has had the last couple of days. I we can , but they are very rare compared to every season down there.


Cleaning up still, just put 2 tanks a day through my saw as it gets to hot after that for me. It's hard to keep my head around the fact that it is only Christmas and we have so much season ahead of us, it sort of feels like clean up and it's over ( false sense of security) There has been a newspaper clipping from some years back doing the rounds of social media, that described the 1911 season and the cyclone that destroyed Port Douglas and how they had multiple big rain events over the season. Hope it's not a repeat or mother nature trying for a personal best
