I reckon our little low is still about 40-45km East slightly NE of Gordonvale. |

At 11:30 today I had work tomorrow, by 15:30 most of the site was awash. 0.3
Then I drove about 9km and the road was wet but no running water.
Was a bit surprised by the arvo build up here, it went from a clear radar and I was
out doing a bit to full on tropical arvo pour down.
Love this stuff..

Just started raining here in Manoora. Looks like Chillagoe is getting a bit of rain too. Hoping to drive out there on Sunday, have to consider creek crossings at Dimbulah and Almaden, if they start getting consistent rain. Edited by user Wednesday, 29 January 2025 9:05:50 PM(UTC)

Synoptic chart shows the trough causing this weather event and monsoonal conditions to persist while-ever it sticks around..and if conditions become more favourable for cyclogenisis then who know... Also showing this low parking itself back on the coast again...could be a rather wet weekend ahead The temps have certainly become more bearable as well as a bonus.. Yeah Bunyip i love this proper wet season stuff too as long as the spinners stay away...

46mm in the gauge this morning. It looks like the best falls were between Gordonvale and Innisfail. By the synoptic charts there could be some convergence form in the next few days by the looks. Out and about in Cairns for a couple hours late afternoon. Driving south on Gatton Street towards Tills you could see the mountain ahead, but directly to the south was a wall of white, couldn't see anything in that direction.

Yeah Ron supposed to have an IPSC match Saturday morning but it does look like I'll be experiencing a different bullseye instead..!..bugga!
Anyway it will be interesting with everything already saturated..
and it looks like Bunyip has been getting drenched this evening with falls up that way approaching 200mm...crazy how much rain is in these slow moving systems...not looking forward to a solid 3-4 days of it if this low just parks itself up cairns way..
I saw there was quite a bit of water around Gordy the other day..I hope thats not in any new subdivisions..?

Lot's of noise and action around last evening but I only ended up with 55mm :(
Yeah Scott if your under them they drop a lot. Good luck for Saturday both with the weather and targets..
Looks like it's moved offshore for now, just have to wait for it to do it's thing now ,, Ho hum ho hum

18mm here overnight. Amazing that we got to 676.5mm for Jan after the slow start. We even beat Jan23 658mm and Jan24 649.5mm. Looks like another wet week ahead on the forecast, especially south of Innisfail. Just about see the lawn growing with the full sun here today. It always amuses me when Townsville gets these big rain events. We spent 4 years living and working there and can hardly remember a rainy day.

yeah townsville sure is copping it Weary and SM....
The missus has already been onto the son in Townsville to start bringing downstairs stuff upstairs...
Your lucky then SM...the last event in 2019 was quite nasty...it was around the same time of year but from a low coming from the gulf...
Bluewater recorded around 1800mm for the week..lets hope this one isnt as bad as that..
Most suburbs down there are already approaching 200mm for the day already with major flooding on the Bohle expected later tonight...
Just lightish rain here so far but i expect that will change as the evening wears on..
Bunyip I fear I'll miss out on both shooting and the barra season opening weekend..a double whammy...
Hey Ron forgot to ask...did you guys get any Barra when you were camping up at the Dam...?

Your right, Scott. It could be like T'ville Airports' 'Night of Noah' Jan11 98. T'ville has already beaten their Jan total in the first 7 hours of Feb25.
On the 'Night of Noah' a friend from T'ville later told me that some places there had up to 700mm in 6hrs.

We are still aiming to hit the start of the season sometime tomorrow, but I’m not sure if I’m as keen as the young fella. He dropped a barra around 110cm last Sat morning and his mate managed to land a 106cm so they were happy with their $200 12 ft punt and $400 4HP outboard purchase lol |

I don't know whether this is on or off topic at the moment but that little low hanging off Norman Reef the other day brought back great memories of catching spanish mackerel there.
It probably wouldn't have been great fishing weather there at that time though.
Steady rain has just started falling here.
