That's what she told us she thought they we're accusing her of 28. They had to get blokes from out the back to throw these people out of the store. Sorry for the bad wording there. Edit: I think that abusive scenario at the supermarket is going to happen more and more up here if the Bruce Highway remains as it is and the population growth continues, especially if these flooding events happen more often. Honestly, I cannot fathom what the big deal is on missing out on a few luxury items for a week or 2. There is enough stuff to get by on quite easily. |

Whenever it floods, it's usually a few days wait and then everything picks up again. No big deal. Having the bridge wash out slowed things down, but they're supposed to have it usable tonight, an amazing accomplishment. The complication this year is the extensive flooding inland. I feel bad for the truck drivers, stuck for several days not just a couple, and not getting paid. As for abuse in the supermarket, I saw similar on facebook. Seems there are people disconnected from reality, they don't seem to have a working brain. Or have they somehow missed the fact we're cut off from the rest of the country? Edit: Apparently there's 60 trucks left Townsville, heading north. Edited by user Monday, 10 February 2025 9:29:00 PM(UTC)

6.5mm here this morning. It looks like it could be a wet day ahead by the look of the radar. Edit 1540hrs: Seems to be a little circulation passing just to the south of here on the radar. Only 7mm here today so far though. Edited by user Tuesday, 11 February 2025 3:45:50 PM(UTC)

Btw 28, the police report said 300 trucks went over the Ollera bridge, but not all of them would be going to Cairns. So maybe that’s where the 167 came from?

Early this morning on ABC some TMR spokesperson said 168 North bound and 114 South bound trucks were allowed through under escort, and that the bridge would be closed again this morning for more work and that they hoped to have it reopened to all traffic tonight. Weather dependent ... Only 7mm this morning. About 7mm in the gauge now, and a shower is just starting. Cheers |

Rollingstone so far this month has had 1882mm. No wonder they have been having trouble down that way. It looks like a better forecast for the rest of the week. Edit: Rollingstone had 1190mm in total for Feb2 and Feb3. That's right up there with Cyclone Jasper figures I reckon. Edited by user Tuesday, 11 February 2025 7:38:46 PM(UTC)

Wow...blue sky and sunshine today.. Now I'll be complaining about how hot it is... Yes SM the way that system just sat there over the same area for a week or so was quite Jasper like...I think Bunyip and up there had about 2000mm for that week...so Rollingstione is noy far behind particularly those 2-3 days of hardcore torrential rain.. I'm just glad my place missed out on both events..plenty of rain for us but just not those destructive 500mm back to back days thankfully.. Looks like some relatively dry days ahead for us all..I wonder when we will get another visit from the Monsoon trough..she seems quite angry this year..

8.5mm here this morning. That's been quite a wet spell since the slow start. 18 rain days in a row for a total of 1163mm.
Your right Scott, it's been quite an intense monsoon burst. We seem to have been in these westerlies for weeks. Still plenty of time for more as March is normally our wettest month here. Hopefully no big cyclones though.

Super heavy rain coming back from Atherton through Yungaburra this arvo. You kind of forget what proper storm rain is like when you live down the hill.

And to see a lone blob between Mossman and Cooktown. You getting any rain Bunyip?
Zelia in the west is a Cat 3 expected to become a Cat 5 this afternoon.

Just the 4.5mm here this morning. No rain so far today. I did a bit of a comparison of the Rollingstone and Jasper events. Dec 14-19 at Cape Trib 2003.6mm, Feb 1-6 at Rollingstone 1549mm. Both amazing rainfall events. Cyclone Zelia is intensifying rapidly by the looks 28. Edit: What's just as amazing about those rain events is the daily high totals, Cape Trib 861.2mm and Rollingstone 730mm. Edited by user Thursday, 13 February 2025 7:05:49 PM(UTC)

Me neither, but thankfully it looks like they missed the worst of it. Last minute jump to the east saved them from a direct hit.

Another insanely heavy storm on the way home from tablelands today..
Seems like a black cored storm heading down the inlet to Cairns right now. |
