Hello, Great to see you join up to this forum. I am similar to you. I love to ski when the money and work allows it. Personally I am a skier, although I have tried snowboarding a couple of times and ended up bruised, soaking wet and cold. I must give it another go again some day though. I was talking to some colleagues on a video conference at work yesterday and none of the people in the UK, USA or France realised that Australia actually gets snow and we have ski resorts. I guess it isn't something that is well known outside Aus. (I blame Bondi rescue for making every day look like summer!) It is great to hear that the ski season has been a good one this year. You always hear the news articles when snown is late, however they all seem to disappear when the snow settles and people are having a great time. Hopefully you can get out on the snow soon! Probably the end of the snow season for me.I might have to change my username for the summer weather.. I spoke to people on chairs lifts and l asked them about the good snow and why we were getting so much.? When AGW came up they all said they didn't know what was going on. Me included. An Austrian ski instructor told me last winter that Austria was the best snow season they had in 30yrs.! Spoke to a family that had taken time off in West Australia to fly over here for the excellent snow . Anyway thanks for your interest.. a nice warm bed beckons

Great to hear it has been a good season. Considering it is so close to two major cities, not enough Aussies enjoy areas we have on our doorsteps. (Sadly me included). I may make a drive this weekend to see some snow.

I may make a drive this weekend to see some snow. And forecast of another 30 to 40cms from thurs to sun and possibly more next week. This will make 3 very good seasons in a row.

I think Perishers weather and snow report says it all
"Crisp, foggy mornings continue to be followed by perfect daytime conditions on the slopes. Cloud will begin to increase during the day on Thursday, ahead of what is shaping up to be the last fresh snow of the season. A strong cold front and low pressure system will direct blustery conditions across the alps from Friday, sending a healthy amount of rain and snow across the region throughout the weekend and early next week. Conditions look pretty spring-like in the second week of the fortnight, with a mix of rain, snow, sun and wind, but low enough freezing levels mean rain won't ruin much of the snowpack" Tomorrow Thursday 5th September 2019 Shower or two. 7° Weather: Shower or two. Minimum: 0° C Maximum: 7° C Prob. of Prec.: 70% Wind 9am: NW 9 km/h Wind 3pm: WNW 12 km/h The snow forecast looks better chances on Saturday with lower temperatures.https://www.perisher.com...reports/weather-forecast

536 thickness lining up nicely with a moderate precip' signal between 7pm to midnight for the Victorian alps. Low level snow likely in that highlighted zone
Could be ok for NSW alps but maybe not so low level as VIC?http://www.bom.gov.au/au...chartSubmit=Refresh+View

Thredbo top station has been below zero since 2pm and looks to have had at least 5cm of snow by 7pm.,Currently minus 3.7deg Looks like Perisher valley has had up to 10cm by 7pm And Victoria Falls creek has been below zero since 12pm and could have scored 6cm of snow up to 7pm. Mount Buller has been below zero since 10 am this morning!! and has possibly had 10cm of snow up to 7pm Mount Hotham has been below zero since 11.30am and has likely had ??.not online. Mount Baw Baw has been below zero since about 9am and has likely had 8cm of snow NICE The totals in the morning will be interesting

Monday 9th sept 2019
Day time temperatures at Mt Buller have been between minus 2 and minus 4 from 9 am this morning . Very likely 7cm of good quality snow todayThere web site says 101cm of natural snow and ZERO lifts open. What is the matter with the new management(USA company) ?? Its snowing and there is heaps to ski on?

#snow is trending on twitter now. Didn't take long to find a picture. Canberra and blue mountains appear to be 2 places to look. and this picture below of the Goulburn courthouse building was not taken in 1910..A good postcard picture of Dry barren Goulbourn.,What a hoot.! I wonder if they will put this picture in the entrance hall. Historical significance .When was the last time Goulburn was covered in snow in September by the way? I am a fan of Blackheath weather web site and twitter. He used to be a weatherzoner years back. He does Blue mountains forecasts and snow forecasts. I will add to your collections of pictures for this fabulous snow event for NSW last night. Very exciting. The news showed someone snow sking on the back of a 4WD in Goulbourn. I never thought l would see that in my day. School was laid off until 11am today A twitter post from Katoomba
