No storms here as yet. Only 0.5mm overnight. Everything seems a bit stalled at the moment. Maybe ex-Kirrily will move into the gulf and change a few things.

Thankfully only 32c here today..its a nice relief.. With storms either over us or at least in the "hearable" vicinity every day and possible storms forecast every day going forward I dont remember a more stormy start to a year then this.. already had I modem blown up and possibly telephone line damage.. and Yes weary it would be pretty amazing to see 3 qld cyclone crossings before mid Febuary...

BOM saying a bit of a trough being dragged north through our area tomorrow between the two lows. WZ saying 20-40mm for White Rock so maybe some rain on the way.

Yeah SM looks like a convergence zone developing between Rollingstone and Innisfail tonight...could be a wild and woolly night ahead...

Was down your way today Scott, can't for the life of me work out that friggin Cassowary bridge or whatever it is.. What do they walk over it and jump off the other side like the 'ol dodo in Ice age? Managed to pick up 9mm this morning. Just light rain through the night.
Been a fair while since we had a good Convergence zone setup move up or down the coast.
Yes Ex Kirrily sure is hanging around and looks to be going to add a bit more wet stuff to the already wet NW.

6.5mm here overnight. Grey and gloomy with low cloud this morning, no rain though. Ex-Kirrily looks good on the radar, 150mm at Mornington Island. Interestingly, it's the anniversary of Cyclone Yasi tonight. Edit at 1815: Ex-Kirrily starting to look good on the sat pic but it can't seem to stay over some warm water. Hmmmm.. Three out of the four global models on Ventusky have the Coral Sea low heading towards the QLD coast. Only GEM has it heading for New Caledonia

So just a couple of inchs out of that convergence a couple of nights back... just enough to get the creek running dirty but not enoughto flush it.. and weary, the lads at OCC were saying that the Coral sea has a westerly steering bias not seen in many years, which i guess leaves us pretty vulnerable to just about every ambitious Low out there....and thanks SM... having my place going through the eye of Cyclone Yasi makes me a little anxious everytime I hear about a possible cyclone....I really hope to never experience anything like that again.. yeah Ron the cassowary bridge is less then a mile from my place through the scrub...the location on the edge of a cliff sure is a bit of a head scratcher...maybe someone should have told the designers that these birds cant fly.... I took a couple of pics from the railway line below and pinched one from the road level pic.. over 30 million, almost 2 years and counting for this experimental monstrosity.. Just about 1 kilometer up the road is a bridge over the Maria creek which adjoins a friend of mines land and could have very easily been improved for them to cross along the creek bank under the bridge at a small fraction of the cost and much more accessible and natural for a flightless bird... Sorry for the sideway pics..I dunno how to fix that... any ideas anyone..?

My work around is to go into edit, rotate it, then crop it very very slightly (or to something better), then save it as a new image. (Do not click to replace the original image.) Nice photos Scott. It does look like a bit of a monstrosity. My phone does that sometimes, it doesn't matter how hard you try to look at the photo it goes sideways. 4mm here this morning, the convergence zone didn't seem to get this far. GFS is keeping the low offshore at the moment. Edit at 2230: GFS now has it crossing somewhere near Ingham so who knows. Edited by user Saturday, 3 February 2024 10:32:21 PM(UTC)

6mm here from a nice shower earlier. At least something is changing now, ex-kirrily is heading off and GFS has the low staying well offshore again.
