Managed to get myself a Nylex Sunday week ago. Had 2mm in the last week of Feb.
Small showers on Monday night and a storm that rolled through yesterday arvo gave us just over 32mm. The storm that rolled through this arvo did a bit more damage but only gave us 11.2mm Knocked out the power up the back of Edmonton where I was working though. |
Records for 2022: 1520mm 2023: 2710mm 2024: 951.6mm (no records April-Sept) |

Good to have a Nylex again Ron. I think you guys have been doing better than us with the storms, they just die before they get here.
Only 1mm out of yesterday's attempt.
It is trying again now, if nothing at least there is a cool breeze from the cell up the hills.
Cheers

Nothing here for the last few days. Hot. Muggy. Sleep inducing. Surely must be time we got a passing storm, or even the edge of one would make a difference.
But we're pretty used to that out here. You guys on the coast should be getting serious rain, not Chillagoe type rain as seems to be the case.

Another short afternoon storm after a truly oppressive day today. Only 10mm out of this one but still drops the temp a bit. |

So it seems 36-37 is the new normal for the wet season up here these days. Used to be 33-34 was a hot day in the wet season now thats just chicken feed. Out of all these storms that have gone left right and centre of me I have ended up with a whopping 0.75mm so far !!!! even the almost desert like mount carbine has had more rain. My young plants are being scorched in this relentless heat and sun and there is no end in sight. |

Peets bridge got 37mm yesterday. No guages down there that I know of (Deeral area) |

Yeah sure does feel like November, managed to get 2mm yesterday. 1mm from each of 2 failed storms that just couldn't get their bags packed and come on down to the coast.
Went to Mareeba yesterday and coming off the bottom of the range coming home was like driving through a hot wet wall.
There are a few of them down here 28 but I saw heaps in Mareeba, reports of more in Port and Mossman than I have here.
Cheers

We get enough small black beetles as it is, and they smell, like the stink bug infestations we get. Last night would probably have been the hottest I've experienced in a long time. Although I'd like a bit more tree-growing weather to get up my shade-purpose oleanders, roll on the cooler weather please. Did I mention they're finally working on two sections of the road? The section closest to Chillagoe, which should've been done as a whole with the previous work. The middle section with the red sludge hill and the grid - although it looks like they might leave out the few hundred metres each side of the grid, like they did with the re-sheeting work about 6-7 years ago. But the Almaden section might not get done for years, in spite of the rip-your-wheels off washouts on both sides of the road and across the Ootan turnoff. well after a few failed attempts yesterday arvo we managed to get a storm over the ranges around 22:30 last night, gave us a nice 48mm Got to give it to the ergon boys got the power back on around 04:00
Looks like we head into the weekend with a South easterly change and stream showers pushing on to the coast.
Such a beautiful morning after the storm, everything is so fresh :)
Cheers

Yep we copped it here good too. 47.5mm one large tree down several fruit trees flattened and snapped off was pretty hectic. Daintree village got a whopping 119mm I have noticed that daintree village has had a lot of big totals since november last year, what a shame the bureau hasn't been recording it in their data base, they are probably in front of everyone on the north tropical coast. Geez I am envious of those storms you guys have been getting up there..not of the wind damage though..that always sux.. Every evening it tries to storm but then just peters out and nothing comes of it... I keep telling myself just a couple more days to go of this 35c plus heat and then the southerly change bringing showers and milder temps is here... I have been making like a Mexican and having some pretty long siesta's during the heat of the day.. Might try and get out for a spin around the islands on Friday before the change... and yeah Bunyip the Ergon guys are legends..they just go hard in any weather at any time till the issue is sorted...a lot of other organizations could well do with some lessons on how to just get things done from them... No rain. But noticed a bit of lightning.
Quick look at the radar & nothing showing anywhere close. Amazed to see lightning from so far away. Must've been a bit spectacular for those under it.
Nights are still super hot, probably the hottest nights we've had for years.

Yeh one of the cracks im near certain must have hit out yard or very close by it shook the house. We had flooding through our front door due and inside our house due to the hortizonal rain from the NW, my wife and i were mopping it up at 12:30am this morning, tried to go back to sleep but so humid and like bunipy said power didnt come on until 4am so im running on very minimum sleep today but it could be worse. This is the first summer we have lived in this house and the storms really come through here with a lot of intensity from the NW we are a open area with valleys nearby and we seem to cop a lot more wind damage then other places in the shire. |

Impressive light show last night, no rain to record here tho. Took a pic the night before as the second storm for that afternoon cruised by and left us with nothing as well. |
