They seem to have it working again now weary...which is just as well with some rather violent stormage happening to our west..including hail on the tablelands.

Some amazing pics from inside the eye of Melissa from Hurricane hunters...Damned if I would be wanting to fly through the eyewalls of that sucker...

Great photos Scott, they're definitely brave people on those planes Apparently on the last flight through the hurricane, one of their pressure readings was just under 900hpa. Incredible stuff.

Just 1.5mm out of that stormy arvo yesterday Scott. Only light rain here with plenty of distant rumbles to the W and NW. There's a chance of a severe storm on the forecast today so we'll see what happens there.

Thanks for the link Scott.
I checked out his FB page
https://www.facebook.com...mchasing?mibextid=ZbWKwL

And came up with this video
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17atCU8JGX/

That would really be something to be inside that.

As for storms yesterday I noticed it was a bit dark to the south when I went around to Freshwater around 3pm. While there heard an occasional faint rumble, and later on some light rain. Never gave it a second thought til I stumbled across a post from Atherton Weather - and thought it was an old video...

1540hrs: Nice storms forming to the SW at the moment. Distant thunder. We could get a shower later.

I see on "The Bureau" weather radar rainrate scale, the maximum rate colour is 400+mm/hr, I'd like to see that.

Nice video 28, it looks like the eye of Melissa is so small that the plane hasn't enough room to turn.BigGrin

At least some sites are staying the same. Here's the Tropical Tidbits GFS rainfall forecast for the next 10 days or so, not looking to good at the moment.

Thanks 28...How about that colour code comparison between the old and the new radar for the brisbane storms...

All you can say is its a big step backwards indeed..also wouldnt most folks just want to see their local area radar which is available with a single click link on the actual radar you want to see on the old radar now becoming a 6-7 click zoom feature that also requires you to click, hold and drag your area to the centre of the main radar page..How is that in any way better..?..

I think some web designers also forget that there are still many people out here that arent that computer savvy and that the KISS principle and not totally changing everything when updating a website is easier for many people to cope with and understand...we often get oldies call us and want a hand navigating our website and dealing with online payments...even if they have access to younger family members to show them how to do it, its still dificult for some because they simply dont do it that often and then its easy to forget the steps needed to get there or their memories are slipping...

A nice storm rolled through in the early hours, 2.5mm here. Gordonvale 62 and Aloomba 77 had a good drop.

An image from the old radar.

Looked like a good storm. I'm in Manoora at the moment. The rain was fairly light - didn't even wash the bird poo off the car!

I was awake for it. The new radar is getting better colour, even dark red thru the storm.

Use my phone mostly these days. I managed to save Cairns location. When I tap the shortcut I immediately scroll down for the map and consequently scroll the map too, somewhere else, then have to readjust it.πŸ™„πŸ™„ It would be nice to have something that didn't move.....
