That's a blow..
Not hearing about much bush damage up the cape from Narelle.
After Trevor it was all in the news and then it all caught fire
and was the most devastating thing in bla bla bla.
Weipa is convinced that the BoM lost the centre for a good
few hours and they got more than show at the time.
I'm just glad it has been recorded to have happened before :)
can you imagine the end of world climate hysteria for a first.

No rain here in the last 3 days. I just finished mowing the backyard and there was hardly a cloud in the sky. A beautiful day.
Cyclone Narelle seems to have passed between most populated areas, luckily. I don't know how many people live south of Learmonth but it seems to be running along the coast there at Cat3 presently. It has been quite a storm.

YTD: 1562mm No rain here for a few days either. Nice and sunny, although I quite enjoy overcast. I always thought Learmonth was a US base. But it's owned by the Australian military AND there's a small US Air Force detachment (from the 2nd Weather Squadron, Detachment 1) which operates the Learmonth Solar Observatory jointly with the BOM. My second morning in a row without a rainfall :)
We had the first fog on the low river flats and along the river yesterday morning
when I was out for my walk, might just be the change.
Got half my lawns done yesterday, still a bit slippery in some places.
Narelle should setup the whole WA wheat belt for a good season, if they can get fuel & fert.
Be a beautiful day at the range today Scott, Hope it goes well.

Perfect weather here again today, lots of blue sky around. It looks like April showers will be starting right on cue next week by the forecast. The GFS showing a slight hint of a low in the eastern coral sea in about 10 days at the moment. From what I've read we now have our own fiasco. The Daintree coast has the "Daintree ferry", the Cassowary Coast has the "Cassowary bridge to nowhere" and the Southside of Cairns has the "Woree affordable housing project". Well only 2mm here this morning, but I see there was some big totals down the line :)
How did you go Scott ? you would be flooded in I'd guess..
As much as I like the wet, I hope that stays south, Looks like we will have to
do the big lap and drive out via Bloomfield tomorrow, don't really want the creeks up.

120mm here last night with up to 220 down the beach..
Yeah it would have been a cracker of a day at the range Bunyip but I just had to make the most of a couple of dry days and get some grass knocked over..some of it hdnt been mowed since xmas and was a couple of feet high and thick...the 10 year old Greenfield certainly worked overtime and its a scruffy cut and will need a couple of follow up mows to make it look decent but at least the bulk of it is down and grass growth seems to be slowing down a bit now....
Still dont have the ferry operational..geez what a PITA that must be for folks that have medical and other pressing stuff to do in Cairns..
Whats happening in Woree SM..?

We both have dental appointments in Kans un Tuesday, they have both been postponed already because of this ferry BS so it looks like a long lap. The ferry is operational, it has an excavator on it right now dredging, but some bright spark with NFI has said that we can't use it till all the dredging is done, they are saying Thursday.  It brought truck loads of Fuel and food over on Friday , but we were not allowed to cross. To say people are a bit pissed is an understatement.. It will be 4 weeks Thusday.. I love the wet and even flood days, I like it when the ferry closes for a few days and it tests out those who don't make a plan and live here. But to now have it capable of use and being told it is closed is a real kick in the guts to everyone over here. I managed to get all my lawns done yesterday, yeah I know about shaggy cuts got a few spots like that. Mrs has been busy with the rake, will make it a bit easier next lap and is good around the gardens. Cheers |

7mm here this morning, the radar looking good for more rain today at the moment. Apparently they didn't expect extreme weather Scott and the rain has got in and badly damaged over 100 of the modular units. Tearing them down and off to the dump. Expensive. They didn't expect "extreme" weather!
What kind of weather do people expect in FNQ?
Whoever handles the tenders, at both ends, needs to recognise there's a real world outside.
It's starting to look as though the workforce is now being filled by new generations who have limited or only academic knowledge, limited curiosity, no real world experience, and seemingly educated into incompetence.

Yes 28 some of the statements that come out of these people is just mindboggling.
No real life experience and no idea ..
Looks like I'll have to do 400km today just to get to the other side of the river
not very happy with our useless council...

Just the 7.5mm here in the last 2 days. The SE seems to have picked up a bit this morning, maybe some stream showers on the way this week.
Good luck on your journey Bunyip, at least the Bloomfield crossing is a bit better than it once was.

Well that little adventure was 400km, 7hr & $65 in fuel. The road was in pretty good nic all things considered.
Yeah SM we paused on the bridge and reflected on pass times waiting for the tide at Bloomfield, life was less
rushed back then, we seem to have the time for such things.. Yesterdays biggest holdup was a cement truck stuck
on the hairpin bend for about 20 minuets.
only 22mm up here this morning.. See what today brings..
I had a look at the GFS model last night and if that comes to pass, it will be a very wet week or so ahead..

Geez what did you take for the journey Bunyip ...an e-bike..!..just $65..I paid $3.20 a litre in Tully yesterday for diesel..over $10 just to drive 12 km to town and then back... Holy cow SM thats just amazing ..Its furiating that so much government spending is totally wasted isnt it...!!! Anyway it sounds like Exmouth copped it pretty bad from Cyclone Narelle both in wind and storm surge..I guess the flat and exposed section of coast there offered no protection at all either.. Strangely enough I cant see the same amount of damage up Coen way though and I have also seen footage from Pro fisho's during the blow that sheltered in the creeks in Princess Charlotte Bay ..It doesnt seem to be reflective of a Cat 4-5 on crossing.. and yeah some very wet forecasts for the fortnight ahead but I see a couple of models have begun to point a Low from the Coral Sea our way the end of next week while some still say its off to the SE.. 15mm in the gauge this morning from a few nice showers overnight. We ended being above average for March with 754mm. We're also a bit above the 15 year Jan Feb Mar average of 1523.5mm. Cooler and cloudy here so far today. The GFS is pretty much in agreement with that chart Scott at the moment. Mar: 754mm YTD: 1584.5mm Edit: Latest from GFS on Tropical Tidbits for Fri April 10. Good morning weather junkys :)
105mm up here this morning, this wet season just keeps on giving.
Scott, we took the Mrs's Jimny, my 100 series twin cab is getting even less use than normal, I brought
a new bottle of fuel Dr so I can treat it's tanks as they are both full from when I went to get fuel
before U29 showed up. I paid $2.85 for 91 ULP locally but it's $0.20 pl cheaper on the other side :)
2 teeth out yesterday in kans, quiet day today I think..
Looks like a very wet easter coming up.
