Well the action moved south last night and I only picked up 42mm up here this morning :)
Bit the same 28, dog is due for her shots in Mareeba and there are things I need to do in Cairns.
I'm going with wait till next week and hope the low pulls some sunny day for us. lol

On the bus now, but with rainfalls on the Tableland we may not get past Almaden, and if we do we may not get over Eureka Creek this side of Dimbulah.

No problems getting to Mareeba. Had to use the top crossing at Eureka Creek.
Guy from the Lappa Pub said they got 110mm overnight, and similar falls over previous days.
Fire had been through the hillsides & a couple weeks ago the cycads were black stumps. They looked absolutely magnificent today.
Lots of water everywhere, and creeks we didn't know were there.
Seems like a return to the wets of 25-30 years ago.

Is there any more active forum's following this potential Low in the Coral Sea. Use to visit this site years ago and it would of been alive by now, seems very stale??

Thanks Weary, really enjoyed the knowledge and posts back then. Can't seem to rely on the BOM, JTWC seems to be the go to these days.

Your right Scott, it's to early for scare mongering. GFS had it going to the graveyard yesterday, this morning it has it crossing around Townsville and it will probably be back to the graveyard tomorrow.

This from the BoM at 10;45am:
"Tropical Low 05U
Likely tropical cyclone impact on the Queensland coast from mid next week.
A tropical low (05U) is developing in the Coral Sea, well away from the Queensland coast.
The tropical low will strengthen over the weekend, and is likely to become a tropical cyclone by Monday.
The low is currently slow moving, but is expected to move on a general southerly or south southwesterly track over the weekend and into early next week.
There remains some uncertainty in the movement of the system next week. However, although the cyclone remaining off the coast cannot be ruled out, a coastal impact on Queensland is now considered more likely than not.
The most likely zone for a coastal crossing is between about Cooktown and Mackay, somewhat more likely south of Cairns.
A severe impact remains possible, particularly if the system crosses south of Cairns.
If it were to cross the coast, the system is then expected to move further south over land, bringing heavy rainfall to areas well south of the crossing zone late in the week or over the weekend.
Communities on the east coast of Queensland are advised to stay up to date with forecasts and warnings."
