Yeah GT the army worm is bad this year.. I've been lucky so far, but a lot of lawns look like it's november in townsvile.
Well the drizzle didn't burn off, it turned into rain. :)

Looks like a nasty little weed 28. We don't have that here but do have that vine that left unchecked overgrows everything in the garden. We also have those grass seeds in the lawn that fill your socks when you mow.
BOM still saying we could be in for some good rain in the next week.

It seems to have overpowered another weed that was really hard to get rid of. Can't be all bad I guess. Are those the sticky green grass seeds that I think are called tropical chickweed. Really hoping for more rain. Radar has it over us as I type, but nothing is coming out of the sky. Earlier I could smell that rain had hit the ground, just not in the town...

We used to have khaki weed with all it's little prickles in Mt Garnet. Maybe it's similar to that 28. I don't remember it being so green and healthy as that though. About the grass seeds, I Don,t know. They came home on my work socks and went crazy years ago. I think the grass is called macky"s curse or something like that. We have a weed that's mostly flat on the ground, with stems radiating out from the centre. Has a little white flower, and is generally prickly but not too bad. You can swoop up the stems and pull it out. Every bird loves it and so do the wallabies. And this new weed seems to have disappeared it completely.

I think you new weed is a type clover 28, WE have it down here and it can overpower some grasses.
Grazon will kill it and not your grass..
Still it's nice and green and stopping dust so maybe it's a good thing in your spot.
Managed to pick up 33mm this morning from a nice damp day and night. Might chuck a few handfulls of dynamic lifter about the gardens
even with more rain forecast later in the week it will do some good before it all washes away.

a couple of nice days down here..
but yes SM we will see what happens in the days ahead....The BOM's forecast for FNQ every day ahead including today is "high chance of showers"...
The national radar is showing an increase in moisture from coastal NSW all the way up to Darwin....i guess the only question is 'how much"..
Weed and grass growth is certainly rampant this season..I got a bit of spraying done but not nearly enough..

Worked up a good sweat pruning back a couple of golden canes this morning. Very high humidity out there. Only had 2mm of rain here in the last 2 days though. The radar now looks a bit more promising for this afternoon.
FEB: 90.5mm
YTD: 740mm

Some nice showers this arvo though the radar is showing yellow over us at the moment and its barely spitting....might need a slight recalibration.. Even just jumped up on the roof and cleaned out the gutters while its cooler.. It looks pretty clear north of Cairns now with the rain heading south seeming to converge over Ayr/whitsunday area.. I wonder if thats all we are going to get..?..It just keeps on giving to Chilligoe though doesnt it...I wonder when the last time was that anyone had to worry about such lush lawn growth..  My chippie apprentice son living in Townsville has started supplimenting his income with a couple of hours of lawnmowing for cash after work each day such is the rampant growth at the moment down there...

Definitely clearing here for now Scott. A bit disappointing this arvo with only 3.5mm. Looks like that low is heading back where it came from.

And that low has momentarily become TC Lincoln. JTWC had it as TC 14P, but now BOM has named it, seemingly as it crosses the coast. Or has it been sitting over the coast? Looks like it's clearing out here too. Be lucky to get more than a light sprinkle from now on.
