23:20 Now 75mm -- overjoyed. Can still hear the rain, but didn't get wet checking the gauge. Just about over I think. Edit: Yep. That was the end of it. Quite satisfied with that amount. 😁😁 Edited by user Tuesday, 20 February 2024 7:35:58 AM(UTC)

Good total there 28. Nice blob of orangy red on the radar over Chillagoe last night. The rain map looks to be increasing again over the next week so there could be more on the way. No rain here last night.

Seems to be a bit of convergence on the radar 28. From the SW where you are and SE on the coast. Looking good again in Chillagoe.

36mm earlier in the morning.
Looks to be some typical wet season weather ahead with the radar showing coastal rain from Townsville to Cooktown..
I was up for some marcotting of Rambutan, Lychee and longan today but i really dont feel like playing in mud..have to play it by ear i think..

Your right with the mud this time of year Scott. Planned to mow this morning, got that early 9mm and had to trudge through it. Got another 11mm since.

Old mate totally unqualified Higgins actually even brags about taking no notice..... I hope the build went well...any dramas at all or you happy with the finished product..? Take a look at some of the homes this fella inspects.. https://www.facebook.com/siteinspectionaustraliaIts enough to scare you away from a new build....I particularly like the $950K shed/home he inspects at Emerald...what an absolute disaster from design to supposed completion... Its also mind boggling to think many of the stages of those homes were signed off by certifiers...they seem as useless as the dodgey builders and then the building associations make it near impossible for the poor homeowners to get any rectification works done...What a cowboy dominated industry..!

15mm this morning. A few very light showers around today. After following the unpredictability of the weather for years I know I wouldn't pay a backyarder a subscription. Edit: I'm in the process of getting a double carport built at the moment so I hope that all turns out good. Fingers crossed. Edited by user Thursday, 22 February 2024 7:19:27 PM(UTC)

28mm this morning.
Checked the radar & drove to Mareeba. Creeks up but everything navigable.
When I built at Millaa Millaa in 2007, the certifier said there were only 40 certifiers in Queensland.
My current house, when the builder flew up to check complaints I had, the certifier travelled with him... Good mates. 😒

53mm here this morning :) bit better than the last couple with only 10 & 13 mm just doesn't seem worth posting when it's under an inch/25mm :) :)
The contractors have made it to my street, cleaning out drains and reopening blocked culverts, they are doing a great job it's so good to see water run down the drain now and not down the middle of the road.
Good luck with ya carport SM
Got to get cattle out this weekend, looks like it might be a bit wet loading a truck or 2.
Cheers

90mm in the gauge this morning. There were periods of quite heavy rain overnight.
Thanks Bunyip, the job is in the approvals stage at the moment and with March coming up it's a bit of a wait and see. Great to see everything is getting back to normal in your area.

137mm down here...
Yeah good luck SM..bit of a challenging time of year to get a building project underway..
Nice to hear some prgress happening up your way Bunyip...though i see ongoing issues with local water supplies due to sendimentation of the reservoirs...Wonga beach area apparently struggling to even maintain drinking water...
Yeah 28 i think you hit the nail on the head as to why there such issues in the building game....Builders and certifiers scratch each others backs..

Scott, lots of problems around the shire with water and roads, but the small contractors doing the works to fix side roads and some other areas, like the Daintree village riverfront access are doing an amazing job of getting on with it and getting the jobs done, Unfortunately anything the council is directly involved with is not going so well. It has now come to light that our council has not even asked for TMR help with the Cape Tribulation access or the Alexandria Range, as they feel it is to dangerous to let more people onsite. (can't make this stuff up) They said last week that Alexandria Range will be under one way traffic control for 12 months at least. That's 4.5km of one way traffic , can not even think how long a wait in the queue will be. At the moment it is about 10 to 15 mins..
Showers have returned this arvo :)
Cheers
