We had a few quite heavy showers yesterday as well as showers overnight last night. It is nice and cool this morning at 20° so far with a forecast max of 28°. There is also the chance of a thunderstorm today according to the BOM forecast.
Not looking forward to the possible heavy rain from the developing low as posted by Colmait in the above very helpful and informative post.
This weather system had a tragic outcome yesterday when a man died in floodwaters at Greenbank.

Fortunately the timing of the two troughs interacting with each other was out of sync for much off the Metropolitan areas of Brisbane resulting in showers although some being very heavy. Central and Southern Queensland and NSW have really bore the brunt of this system. The 1st low over Eastern Queensland was to move offshore but instead it moved quite rapidly South to combine with the second and colder trough. Watching the radar and Satellite this morning and it was a rapid shift. As for the South East of Queensland there is still a possibility of low forming around the Capricornia Coastal area from the remnants of the cloud band either later tonight or tomorrow morning. The question is whether it makes its way down the Coast or it possibly drenches those areas to the North and then it moves out to sea. We could still see some heavy falls over the next 48+ hours due to heavy showers or possible storms. Unfortunately it was still a deadly event with the sad loss of a life down at Greenbank. There were some very big falls around the area within this thread. But in some ways, many places have dodged a bullet at this stage. Below is the 7 day rainfall map with the totals up to the 5 April 2024. Edited by user Friday, 5 April 2024 3:01:24 PM(UTC)

Another 20° overcast morning this morning. A forecast max of 28° once again for today with showers and a possible storm. I am very happy to see the sun symbol on the BOM forecast page for two days in a row this coming week. Let's hope it stays that way as it would be really nice to have some sunny days for a change after what seems like months of rainy, grey days.

Unfortunately large areas of NSW and Sydney are in quite a mess from this system and they still have more to come. It is a very serious event with a lot flooding and people affected. As for QLD the Ridge that is still affecting our weather will gradually weaken over the weekend and move off the coast by Monday.. There is the potential for some more showers and storms today and Sunday and leading into Monday there is the possibility of a shower or 2. Sunday looks the better of the 2 days storm wise. Then as the cloud clears we should see clear skies, the sun and cooler weather for the rest of the week. Here are the storm possibilities and Li’s for Today and Sunday. I am just keeping the weather in the simplest way possible which sometimes can be harder than what you read. As you can see by the 4 day MSLP chart the Ridge will finally clear during Monday. |

A little warmer this morning at 22°. A forecast max of 27° with showers and possible storm. Originally Posted by: Colmait Isn’t it absolutely amazing to see the cooler Autumn weather sneak in. Yes I am looking forward to those cooler days. This Autumn would have to be my least favourite type of Autumn. I am so looking forward to the cooler and sunny Wednesday and Thursday next week (if the forecast doesn’t change before then). I really enjoy Autumn days that have cool, crisp mornings, blue sunny skies and just the right amount of warmth in the sun. Wishful thinking at this stage. Shouldn't complain too much though after watching the news last night that showed the terrible flooding and damage caused by this weather.

It has been a tragic event throughout parts of Queensland and NSW. So I say this with absolute respect, but I do feel that last night we dodged another bullet in the Metropolitan area of Brisbane and surrounding areas. Most of the extreme heavy rain fell just of the Coast although we had some very heavy showers in our area. Last night could have been so much worse than it was as you can see by the rainfall totals on the radar. But as for Gympie and surrounds they received a lot more especially from a few slow moving cells There is still a chance of seeing a clearing storm but just have to see how it all plays out. Hot and sunny for next 2 days then we should start feel the cooler weather roll in to about average or just a little above for April. The overnight temperature was very pleasant last night and should continue that way as the minimums start to drop over the next few nights.

22° here this morning and an overcast sky. Forecast max of 29° for today.
Day off yesterday so went for a drive out to Fernvale, Lowood and up to Somerset Dam. It was lovely to see how green the fields are and see the farmer’s dams full after all this rain. On the news last night, farmers were saying that this rain will stand them in good stead for at least six months and should ensure a good winter crop.

Well it appears that Autumn has finally arrived . A cool crisp 16° this morning with clear skies and a south westerly breeze. Today is forecast to have a max temp of 27°. When outside last night we noticed the breeze had a definite chill to it.

It was a pleasant night although we didn’t manage to get down to the forecast minimum of 15°C in our neck of the woods. Brisbane CBD just managed to hit 15.1C at 06:00. Most of night however hovered around the 18°C or just slightly lower in most areas closer to the Coast Inland such as Oakey, Warwick, Stanthorpe and Toowoomba all managed single digit temperatures. Daytime should see the average of 27°C and clear skies with the Westerly change that came through late yesterday afternoon. @Aussie Girl the wind chill was very pleasant and still is here. You are so right with the Autumn feel! Edited by user Wednesday, 10 April 2024 6:34:14 AM(UTC)

Last night was definitely crip and cool. The feel like hit 12°C here. Daytime temps are still sitting on the April average of 27°C. Very enjoyable weather. A few showers may arrive over the weekend which will give rise to temps slightly. Mainly the minimums may rise due to cloud cover. |

Agree with you Colmait, it was definitely crisp and cool this morning. It sure did feel like 12 this morning. Yesterday is what I would call a perfect Autumn day with beautiful blue, clear skies and a lovely daytime temperature. It would be lovely if we could have that weather all year round but then it might get boring and we would have nothing to complain or get excited about weather wise

Another pleasant evening. Although the temperature was a little higher with the feels like sitting at 14.8°C it was still very comfortable.
Over the next week the days will have some cloud cover and or showers. The minimums will be higher sitting at 17-19°C but day time temperatures will be slightly above average early into next week. This is due to a persistent deepening ridge across the west/southwest of Queensland. |

It was a lovely temperature today, only reaching a max of around 26°. I read in the ABC News this morning that BOMs first winter forecast declares that 2024 could be one of Australia's warmest winters on record This is the link to the article: https://www.abc.net.au/n...mest-on-record/103697742

Another very pleasant day temperature wise here today. Reached around 26°C and the early morning was definitely warmer than earlier in the week.
The sun still has a “bite” to it though even with the cooler temperatures.

Models are suggesting a slightly warmer week with max. temps just above average until this Friday afternoon/ Saturday when a Southeasterly change should move through.
Until the change arrives we should see a few showers and due to the cloud cover and a North Easters blowing, the minimums will remain in the high teens.
The Southeasterly will also bring a shower with the change but should cool things down by a couple of degrees.
