certainly could use it SM..the only reason its still green around my place is because of all the sprinklers..
I can see a few scattered showers offshore of Cairns..lets hope to see some driving onshore though it doesnt look great until at least mid-next week and later...
Fingers crossed anyway...our creek has slowed down substantially ...

Managed to get 5mm on Friday night from a couple of showers, at least the monthly total is starting to move now. The weekly forecast map is looking even better this morning.
Scary looking eye that one Weary. JTWC saying it will weaken a little before landfall.

Still crispy brown lawn here. Looks like there could be some decent rain in the next week by the forecast. A patch of darker blue for the Cassowary Coast on the map now. Up to 150mm would be nice.

just starting to get some steady rain here now.... The slow moving blobbish nature on the radar suggests that some areas may get some decent totals if it sits around for a while... You might be back to mowing next week SM... edit...actually been absolutely smashing down for the past 15 minutes...water running everywhere and clear evidence on display that i should have cleaned out my gutters.... backed off to light rain here now..
got 47mm measured but missed the first 15 minutes of torrential rain ..85mm in a straight sided bucket which is probably about right..
I put out some fert yesterday but didnt want to do everything because of this possibility...glad I held off now....
lets hope the whole district gets some good storms...

Good downpour there Scott, we had one of those slow moving showers earlier. So far 17.5mm in the gauge. That's the highest since 21st Aug when we had 18mm. 19.5mm in the gauge here this morning. Low cloud and light rain so far today. Still a wet forecast on the cards for the next week.

so 109mm plus an inch or so here which corresponds with the gauges around me at about 135mm... an orchardist i know up tully Gorge got 8 inchs as did South mission beach..... Edited by user Friday, 22 November 2024 4:49:35 PM(UTC)

Picked up 55mm this morning and 46mm yesterday morning :)
Gave me a wet day yesterday so I did the Mareeba, Smithfield loop and did some shopping and resupply..
Some good falls down your way Scott
Early talk of a monsoon and decent opening to our wet in the coming weeks. Bring it on...
Can't believe the lack of action on some of these road work sites. The traffic control bill will be more than the cost of the actual
works required to fix the road. And here we are about to start the next WET.
Anybody got a good scrub chook deterrent?

44mm here and very sticky and humid this morning..
Yeah just reading today that work is about to commence for the next 18 months on fixing 30 landslips on the kuranda range rd and the road will be closed at nights for at least the next 2 week...its just amazing that nothing has ever been done to alleviate this issue...My neighbors daughter is a Traffic controller up that way....she only works 3 days a week in 12 hr shifts and gets a couple of grand for her troubles.
I'm surprised you have to ask about the turkeys bunyip..I've tried various means of trapping with little success and recently they have even been flying up into my banana bunchs and destroying them so there is only one answer now unfortunately...

About 35mm out of this rain so far. It's been very welcome, lawn turning green already.
We don't have scrub chooks here but there's always a few scratching around at the botanic gardens when we visit.
On the gutter cleaning, a big piece of gutter on the rental units next door fell down yesterday. It missed them and their cars luckily.
