It's hard to tell how long the highway will be cut at Ingham Scott. The forecast has more good rain in the next week or two for that part of the coast.

The Feb average here between 2011 and 2021 was 459mm so 518 in the first 5 days is well above normal.

It's all about the drive on the new road Ron, not the shoppingBigGrin

Things are not looking good if they're bringing in the army to try and fix this problem.

I'm really missing out at home this year. :(

Only 10mm in the gauge this morning.
However I was working over the hill in Cow Bay yesterday and it was pouring down more than half the day.
So much depends on the direction the weather comes from..

Lot's of stars out this morning on my walk, have not seen that for a fair while.

Cheers

What a difference a day makes!
Only 1.5mm since 9am yesterday.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I don't expect that to change between now and 9am today BigGrin

10mm here this morning. Blue sky and sunshine so far today. Time to start on the lawn and weeds if this keeps up for a few days. The yard is looking like [cencored] at the moment.

Good monsoon flow at the moment, I traced the isobars on bom gradient level wind chart and it's flowing down through the Phillipines to us. It just needs a trigger and heavy rain will be back I reckon.

Feb: 528mm
YTD: 1204.5mm

Edit: I had a second thought, send the chartBigGrin

We are getting one of those flows between the main range and Yarrabah range that Scott was talking about ATM. It’s bucketing down.

So apparently the army "Bridge" is only taking essential vehicles, cannot take heavy vehicles and can only do 2km/hr over it so low range basically.Blink

*Some proper heavy showers in Atherton today.

That bridge sounds like a bandaid solution Ron. Their probably sucking up because there's a federal election coming up. Maybe I'm just being cynical.

Edit: Looks like good rain south of about Innisfail on the radar again tonight.

Around 6pm last night we had a dump of 35mm at close enough to 60mm/h from one of those lines of orange coming down the coast - it rained so hard, Starlink turned off!

Bloody ridiculous....the whole might of The Army and the resources of the whole of state and federal government of Australia and thats the best they could come up with for the only real road linking FNQ to the rest of the country... and its just about 20 ft or so of the bridge aproach that washed out..surely the could have just dumped a heap of rock in there and compacted it and then at least had both lanes moving again..

Far out I and probably most every farmer and anyone thats operated heavy equiptment have personally done more extensive earthworks then that with 50 year old tippers and machinary in a day or 2....

Geez if it was in China they would have just built a dual lane expressway and a new bridge around it in 3 days...LOL

Completely agree Scott.

They must think the rest of the bridge is okay, since they're letting vehicles over it. Wouldn't be that hard to fill in and replace the approach.

I wouldn't be any more "nervous" driving over it than I am every time I drive over the Barron River bridge at Kuranda.
