Greg That’s the very reason why I’ve booked a quick trip to Melbourne to coincide with the upcoming cold wet weather there next week. Just after I booked it, I suddenly realised that I should’ve considered going to Hobart as an option (flights were about the same price) and getting a rental car to go up Mt Wellington which is what I always do when I go to Hobart. It’s only been a few months since I was last in Hobart (huge snow drifts on the upper slopes of Mt Wello) but I miss it already. The only potential issue with that option is that they usually close the road going up the mountain down at The Springs when lots of snow’s expected so if that happens on Monday (snow may fall down to several hundred metres by then)... so if that happens, I’d have to drive all the way to somewhere like the Hartz Mountains to see really good snow. I usually do a quick trip to Melbourne each year in winter when they’re expecting a very cold outbreak provided I can manage to get a shift swap for work but since this kind of huge temp contrast doesn’t happen too often to this degree, I decided to go there again next week.

Flew back from Tasmania yesterday afternoon via Melbourne. Ran into a few storms and a bit of turbulence in north east NSW. Rough guess I would say west of Lismore area. Wish they would put better maps on those aircraft route maps! I think the aircraft was at about 8000 metres at this time. I only had the Iphone within reach. Hopefully our turn this afternoon. Cheers Greg

Great images Greg. Lively seeing things from above. So far I have missed out on action over the last 6 or so weeks, however this g's are setting up quite nicely for this afternoon. I am still not game to start a thread for it though

Clouds coverage have increased as cells develop to the west and are moving quite quickly. There was a very brief shower with very little rain earlier this afternoon. Apart from that it been sunny most of the time. The temperature rose very quickly and peaked at 35 C before falling since the late morning though rose briefly a few times this afternoon. Dew point have been near average while slowly rising and briefly moderately high 30 minutes ago. Relative humidity have started to rise and have been near average today so far. Wind have been E to NE. Pressure have been steadily falling. Edited by user Sunday, 1 December 2019 2:00:28 PM(UTC)

4 mm from a mild thunderstorm. The part of the thunderstorm that went through here decayed as it moved through so it wasn't too much of a storm. There so brief heavy rain with a maximum rain rate of 54.6 mm/hr. The temperature fell further with the storm and followed the storm the temperature have been stable at 25 C. The dew point rose slightly with the storm and following the storm the dew point have been stable at 20 C (moderately high). Relative humidity have risen with and following the storm and is now 75%. Wind have eased following the storm and is back to E to NE. E to NE winds before the storm became N to NW during the storm. |

4mm here. It looked promising for a bit, but fizzled out as it came over the ridge behind me. Great smelling the rain though.
It is a shame there are furnace conditions next week.
