It's ok I'm used to talking to myself :) lol
Well it sure turned into a wet old day yesterday & is still continuing this morning. 132mm in the gauge, don't think I've had a August day with over 100mm before. Still not our wettest August (yet) but not far off it.
Cheers

Completely overcast most of yesterday, til evening. And cool.
Windy as anything & saw the first of the dust.
Yard hasn't gone beige yet. Still a decent greenish tinge, although most of that is the prickly weed with the white flower. It's taken over the whole town this year...it's everywhere.

Nah, Bunyip, I appreciate you and your totals. Just been suffering old age and trying to keep up with spring cleaning. Well, winter cleaning which includes not just pruning this year but painting the place. When that'll happen who knows, was expecting a longer period of dry weather - not that I'm complaining., this rain has been great. First year in ages the veggies I've optimistically planted are leaping ahead. Hope the tomatoes I'm salivating over don't split from this wet weather. Most of the tree seedlings like red cedar and calliandra that sprang up from trees I have have reached the bottom of their pots and I've been able to take to Animal Welfare shop to make them some money. Also taking them some gustavias, taun, mechelia, and red and yellow cannas now that I've mastered cracking the hard seeds.

Hi Dormant, yes we are watching our tomatoes too :) Also got some paint here that should be on walls and not still in tins. Yes this event has been very nice, now just need some dry warm days to get the grass growing. This winter has been good have only needed to mow a couple of times and if it was not for the seed heads making it look scrappy could have got away with even longer between mows. Will check totals when light. :Edit: 34mm Cheers Edited by user Tuesday, 30 August 2022 12:57:58 PM(UTC)

It was like wet season rain here today...bucketed down at times..I still have the gravity feed waterline turned off as the creeks quickly started turning brown I was just thinking the same thing Bunyip about the mowing as well as the spraying...I got off easy this winter with a real lack of grass and weed growth. Hopefully this nice little rain event coincides with warming weather and kicks everything into growth... We have just been into the main shadehouse and tossed all the old stuff out and moved what is still saleable to one side so that one half could be sprayed for moss, mould, slime and lichen...did the top, underneath the top , walls imside and out benchs and blocks as well as the floors..got a pretty good kill except I see some of the moss where it was the thickest is greening up again so i will have to go over some areas again as well as doing the half yet to do...trouble is I need a windless day with no chance of rain for 3 days or so afterward.. Dormant I keep looking at the Taun hoping for some fruit as a couple are about 8m high...I have been thinking of cutting the tops out to shape them a bit but apparently have to wait till at least november for a new battery for my pole saw...thats frustrating as I really need to chop the tops out of a few fruit trees but dont like chainsawing up a ladder anymore... Jealous of home grown tomatoes though...I never have any luck with them... Edited by user Tuesday, 30 August 2022 8:18:26 PM(UTC)

The yard is still a vague shade of green. Probably should get it mowed, but it's not a nuisance, and attracts the birds. My two lone pawpaws are doing well, and the mulberry that looked dead is now covered with young bright green leaves and lots of young fruit. Thank goodness I don't have to cope with moss, mould, slime and lichen.

What a strange old start we are having to the dry season... Too much SE wind and associated showers by far for my liking ...is it the La nina effect..? Has anyone been seeing the footage coming out of Florida after Hurricane Ian..?...the level of destruction its quite astounding but I guess when you populate such low lying country then its going to happen sooner or later ...the storm surge itself was just incredible.. I particularly like the syle of Law enforcement over there..a real take no prisoners approach...maybe we should introduce similar measures to Cairns...it might slow down the current crime wave if people are allowed to shoot burglers in their own homes.. https://www.foxnews.com/weather/florida-sheriff-pushes-hurricane-ian-victims-shoot-looters-look-grated-cheese

We had 4mm 1st September. We are still hanging out for rain. Some random storms would be nice.
At least we haven't had the big dust yet, and no whirlwinds. Those 2 big unseasonal falls months way back have slowed the progress of brown dead grass.
The temperatures are manageable. 36°-37° on the deck, 33°-34a° inside. I'll never forget the October where we had 40°+ every single day about 4 years ago...

Hi weather friends 27mm here this morning :)
Yes Florida was a big event and their way of policing should be here as well. Like most event though once the media have had there day they move on and you don't hear anything else, Like how is Tonga getting on after the volcano ?
:28 yes I remember that hot October, so far this year has been good, not even any real humidity down here yet...
See the BoM have said it's going to be a very active year ,, maybe ,,
Cheers

18mm late Sunday afternoon. Very nice. My plants were very happy.
Still only 37° days, but feels hotter. Guzzling Bundaberg ginger beer. Lol.
Nights *just* cool enough to keep the doona on.
Will be interesting to see how this Wet goes.

Surprise, we had 6mm last night.
Of course, this afternoon's cells all went around us again. Thankfully it radically dropped the temperature.
40° days lately. Hot nights.

Yes it's good to see some early storms, though the last few days of October is not too early.
Same here 28, they split and went around my little piece of the world, Mossman got a good hit though from reports. Think I will buy a new A/C today.
Cheers
