Showers have started coming in from the SE this afternoon. Hasn't done that for a while. Something is changing. About 10mm here today so far.

Edit at 1930: GFS pointing to a south of Townsville crossing with about 955hpa central pressure at the moment.

ECMWF seems to agree now too.
JTWC hasn't offered anything yet.

only 5.5mm for me overnight nice change.

Bunyip you look set to cement a 3rd golden gumboot in a row, you are already pulling a big lead over other super heavweights tully and babinda.

14mm overnight here. Just enough to keep things nice and boggy. A nice big band of blue sky to the south looks good though.

Having a bit of a stalk at Bunyips rainfall chart one can see over 3200mm for December/jan so far...not sure when the rain started up there but here it was about the 12 dec if thats the same for daintree then thats just 40 days at about 80mm per day average.....

and it doesnt look like any repreive anytime soon with the monsoon trough doing its thing.....

its truly astonishing really..almost 2000mm more then what we have received down at Tully in 40 days..just Wow..!

The low is still looking quite disorganised out there. It's probably why JTWC hasn't shown much interest yet.

A couple of light showers just keeping it damp so far today.

Yes, it's been looking disorganised. Was still looking disorganised on Earthwind an hour ago, but looking at it right now it's starting to tighten up.
https://earth.nullschool...phic=-205.41,-15.16,1676

Edit:
It was looking elongated, and still is but becoming steadier.
Everyone has it landfalling Townsville or slightly south, between 2pm and midnight.
JTWC still hasn't called it. What do they know that no-one else does...?

It looks that way 28, crossing seems to be getting a little closer to Townsville. Predictions are for a bit less intense at the moment of around 980hpa.

Edit: Bit of good news, BOM forecasting no rain for tomorrow or Wednesday for Cairns.

The low is starting to shape up now, the elongated centre is becoming a circle.

Looks as though its starting to stack up vertically on there, still looks a like dog threw up on the sat pic.

It is ironic that JTWC is showing a bit more interest in it because of it's ongoing disorganisation.

Edit: First morning in 14 days with an empty rain gauge.

JTWC have suddenly got all excited and called it a cyclone . Amusingly it’s called 07P as bom haven’t named it yet.

Remarkably there was 4mm in the gauge.

All this rain has made weeding easy, for a change.

Edit:
Dry day, blue skies and a scattered cloud. Looks like a few dry days ahead.
JTWC's Advice 2 has it crossing at Bowen. It could still be anyone's guess... But JTWC are usually right. :-(

Thanks 28. The water vapour image is clearly showing the dry air being drawn into our area tonight.

JTWC are normally pretty good. I like their explanation of things.

Things still the same this morning. The low still looks like the dog's breakfast, still going nowhere and crossing near Townsville. And no rain here.

Edit: A little bit more action starting to show on the Willis Island radar.

No rain again overnight. Full high overcast with a bit of light stuff at the moment. It looks like most of the rain is north of it.
