There could be more good rain in the next week by this map, especially in next 4 days.

To 24 hours 6am this morning we had 127.4mm and got an extra 80 from the big dump this afternoon.
Our pressure has been bouncing around between 999 and 1001 for days now and the humidity has not dropped under 95.
Virtually all of our wind has come from the NW.
February total is at 358.4mm this afternoon and YTD is 1131.3.
The creek next to our house has run over and cut us off this afternoon for the third time in a week.
Gotta love the tropics 😀

The heavy stuff looks to be moving off the coast except for a small area of convergence over Mission beach which is trying to hang on...over 200mm there since 12.. GFS going a bit harder then your map SM..butalso pinning the tail on the Townsville donkey once again... Edited by user Tuesday, 4 February 2025 5:32:33 PM(UTC)

Yeah Scott, GFS saying the focus of the rain south of about Innisfail again for the next week. No pesty lows off Brisbane any more which is great. Thanks Dribbles, that's a good rain gauge check. You've had 1131.3mm YTD, with our 44mm so far today we've had 1131.5mm. Amazing. Edit 1933hrs: That nightly rain train could be building again by the radar. I see Hollywood Higgins with a FB post claiming that South Mission had over 500mm in 3 hours...
When I pointed out it was a tiny little village with a BOM gauge that recorded around 270 mm from 12 pm to 6 pm my post was quickly removed...
Somebody else also pointed this out and their post was also quickly removed...
What an absolute clown...!

I'd love to see 500mm in 3hrs Scott. Apparently the highest ever recorded in the world in that time is 600mm so it is possible. Just another case of 'never let a lie get in the way of a good story' I reckon. Pouring here again, Unbelievable almost. Edit: Beautiful spot South Mission I must say, my grandfather and grandmother lived there for years. Spent a lot of time on that beach. Edited by user Tuesday, 4 February 2025 9:19:59 PM(UTC)

Emptied 65mm, after emptying 80mm at 1400hrs yesterday. So, at 0245hrs that's ..... 140mm so far. Only sprinkling at the moment. Edit: 0300hrs - that's got the truck routes covered... Edit 2: fixed typo - should be 140mm (not 240). Edited by user Wednesday, 5 February 2025 7:26:14 AM(UTC)

142mm at 0715hrs
Only another 2mm since 0400hrs. Do you even bother counting it with this amount of water!
Radar's the clearest I've seen for ages. Wonder how long that will last.

What an absolute clown...! Scott you are obviously the Deep State trying to stop REAL TRUTH getting out to citizens Yep, he’s an absolute grifting clown 🤡🤡 mate the thing i most object to is he, like others purporting to be a well credentialed news source, just lift an unverified FB post and posts it as fact...wouldnt you check other nearby gauges(including an official one about 1km away) to gauge the likelihood of something being true or not first..? and yeah SM I know that would technically be possible but when every other gauge around the same town has measured less then half then maybe the old grannie that posted it made a boo-boo with her measuring... anyway 160mm for us in the past 24 hrs and have even seen the sun trying to peek through a couple of times....I think the worst may be over.. Might even go and try the supermarket but i fear I may be dissapointed..

Or like me at 3am I tapped the 2 instead of the 1, and didn't check to see if it was correct. Started sprinkling again here. Be nice to get a bit of a break, with a bit of sunshine. Good luck at the supermarket Scott. Where do you go? Innisfail or Ingham check the health food shops, people forget about them.

107mm in the gauge here. That's 100+mm 3 days in a row and 5 100+ totals in the last 9 days with a top of 222mm. A bit unusual for White Rock. Just got back from woollies G'vale and the shelves are very empty there. Feb; 518mm YTD: 1194.5mm Looks like nothing is getting through from Georgetown way by the look of this. We shop at Tully IGA 28..its a good store and much nicer employees then Mission beach Woolies.. Thankfully Tully locals dont go stupid and aside from an understandable limit on bread and eggs everything else at the IGA was just normal... Mission beach wwoolies is apparently nearly empty but a lot of shoppers there are transients and people that have moved up from down south to live at the Beach bringing their BS city ways with them.. Geez the radar certainly is looking a lot clearer today..! and yeah SM just got back from the PO to see when we can get our delayed plant orders through and the word they had was that it could be a week or 10 days to return to normal as that photo shows all roads in and out are now cut...not sure how long the water will be over the road near Ingham for..the washed out highway should be a pretty simple fix to at least get traffic moving there again once the Ingham floodplain water level drops.... Wonder how long that will be...? Greyhound have said they are suspending service for 2 weeks as well.. 518mm for Feb already, SM...pretty good going for Cairns isnt it..! and 28 thats why I dont bother with keeping a rainfall chart...my memory is just terrible so with big rain i often tip it out partway through the day and forget that total .. It's like that on the Tablelands too. People don't panic. Possibly so many transients in Cairns I guess that wipe everything out. I'm one of them at the moment, I had enough stashed at Chillagoe to last me weeks, now I simply do not have space, although I have enough. Originally Posted by: scott123 and 28 thats why I dont bother with keeping a rainfall chart...my memory is just terrible so with big rain i often tip it out partway through the day and forget that total .. Ha ha, and years ago, maybe WZ days, you all laughed at my cute green 40mm guage on a skinny stick. Never had to empty it til it was time. I did eventually upgrade to a $10 stick in the ground Bunnings item, and the most in that was 85 or 90mm. I do have the records somewhere in storage. The Range roads concern me. We'll be lucky if we see the current two landslips fixed within the next 2 years, and maybe even luckier if we don't lose the whole road somewhere. It's not just us though, the shortcut from Gatton to Warwick runs along a creek and there's roadworks repairing landslips into the creek, with only half the road left. The road from Dorrigo down to Coffs Harbour has similar problems. Stop/go's and traffic lights. No money being spent on keeping roads usable. Did I mention the Leichhart Highway? It's a complete mess, a mass of patched potholes small and large, literally. The Camry kept bottoming out and you couldn't do more that 85/90kph. There were very few sections of more than a couple kms that were actually intact. Too many heavy vehicles the road was never engineered and built for. Enough said, I guess...
