Well there goes winter apparently..and none too soon for my liking...might even be able to get some blankets back from the thieving hounds at night now.. "Unusually warm" days and nights the rest of July and August is BOM's call.. http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/tropical-note/

After 14 days without rain we got 3mm here last night, good for the pot plants. Cairns Airport down to 19.8°C overnight so things have warmed up a bit.

No frost here in 15 years I've been here. Although, a local told me it's happened once or twice.
Warmer nights again. Tossed the blanket, kept the doona still.
Power outage from 2am. Came back at 2pm, just in time for afternoon sun. 😊

72mm here for July, a little above average. It's been quite windy the last couple of days, blew over the fairly large potted foxtail palm which didn't even happen in Jasper. A bit cool yesterday arvo with 22°C at 4pm.

No longer a Chillagoe resident. Temporarily in Cairns for about 4 weeks. Thence to various parts southern for a while, returning to the region in the not too distant future. Will still be reading this thread of course.

Snuck in a couple of mackeral trips the past couple of weeks in varying ocean conditions and managed a quick spin down the creek yesterday with a couple of young frenchies staying with us....sorry for the sideways pic...geez I hate that.. rain has just started here..guess we will see what the next couple of days brings..

Thanks SM. Yes Scott, sold - after 9 years trying. Great agent from Cairns, deserves every bit of her commission. Currently "homeless". Definitely still a northerner. Can't imagine living anywhere else.

Best wishes 28 I hope you told the new owners about our forum, be good to have a Chillagoe correspondent keep us all up to date with the weather.
Been cold for ages it seems, burning a lot of wood in the pot belly :)
Only 4mm this morning from a drizzly night, but it is proper rain just now.
Cheers

New owner is heading off straight away to the depths of the NT until Christmas. I'll be visiting from time to time. 9-10 months of the year the weather is dry & almost identical daily, we're just relieved when it doesn't go over 40°C. Lol.

Cool and drizzly the last few days here, only 3mm so far for August. Tully area seems to be doing well, 97mm yesterday and another 40 today so far at Mission Beach is pretty good for this time of year. Edit at 1100: Ended up with 10mm overnight. It does sound cool doesn't it. There's a few hiccups I've got to sort out before I head south.
Apparently it was cold & windy in Chillagoe today, according to a friend's text.

Surprised to hear you are going south straight away @28, pretty bloody chilly lately 🥶 Good luck on your travels, though somewhere N of 17S without the drizzly [censored]and SE winds sounds inviting right now.. |

Not south yet. A few more weeks before I go. I'm enjoying your rainy coastal weather at the moment. 😁
