Well I only got 72mm but up stream really got it.
I've had to put the boat in this arvo and go and check on and feed some animals for a place I look after.
Looks active around Kans this arvo, see what the night brings.

Cheers

On a side note, anyone reckon we should do a new thread for each season like back in the WZ days? eg dry season May-Oct 202X, wet season Nov-Apr etc. 85 pages seems a bit much to scroll back through if you're looking for events or records.
Records for
2022: 1520mm
2023: 2710mm
2024: 1884mm (no records April-Sept)

Great idea Ron , I'm all for it. Seems to be bit a bit of traffic this season.

Can't seem to get my head around where the rain fell last night. The village gauge shot up from 23:00 or so
but the Bairds one did nothing, If all the water came out of the Stuart Ck that is a very narrow band.

The local road had held up well until we had a short sharp band around lunchtime and it moved lost of gravel .

Cheers

Yes, I think it's a good idea too. Might help to attract others to the forum if our threads are obviously current.

00.00mm rainfall

Makes it a good day to catch up mundane things like laundry, that I never usually have to think about here lol.

Only 31mm this morning, so this 'event' ended up with around 182mm.

A few models hinting at another system in the Gulf, or possibly either side of the cape toward the end of Feb. Too early to tell yet.

72mm in White Rock this morning. Bit of heavy stuff around yesterday arvo and evening. Good to see some blue sky around this morning. The forecast looks like plenty more rain to come in the next week or so.

just 9mm for us at El Arish...

Yesterday was quite a fine day with just a few light showers overnight...

After a few weeks of correspondance with both the BOM and the Cassowary coast council we still dont have working official BOM rain gauges in Tully or at the nearby Bulgun....

But, after I finally threatened to call in Elon Musk to look into the problem (LOL), I have been assured by BOM yesterday that council have finally admitted its their responibility and they "have dispatched technicians to investigate the outages"...

Phew...I certainly got the runaround as only public servants know how to do...Blink

Scott I have noticed that Tully alert and bulgun has been missing for a while and only the Tully sugar mill updates every few days or so. Good to see you get onto this as I’m sure there are lots of people around who like to see what Tully gets considering it’s reputation.

I might have to get onto the bureau again under a different name and hassle them about my various concerns for our area up here.

Had 55mm here overnight just continues to rain 1363mm for the year. I’ve already lost a 7ft abiu tree to wet feet the other day and some of my other trees are looking under immense stress from continual rain and heavy clay soil.

Forecast 7 days of rain, I’ve never wanted 7 days of sunshine so bad in my life

As an ex public servant there is no way I would accept BOM saying the council will do something. You need to get the council to say to you they will do something and get the name of the person you were talking to……

Looks like bunyip had a whopping 150mm overnight !!!! Looks like the mighty daintree has once again taken the lead for the ytd from whyanbeel valley and the rest of the north tropical coast. Doubt anyone will catch him from here on.

0.5mm here this morning. That's a good drop up in the Daintree area overnight. Speaking of official rain gauges, we only have the Racecource between the Airport and Gordonvale, and it's unreliable at times. Not like Townsville, the gauge dots on the map are like a rash there. Mt Sheridan one went offline years ago.

YTD: 1003mm

Yeh mate absolute disgrace that a place the size of cairns has 2 offical rain gauges. Look how many they have in the Innisfail and surrounding area.

15mm evening shower.

Looking to be a warm day ahead. Saw a dragonfly. In Darwin they say dragonflies appear at the start of the Dry Season. Is it true over here? It's starting to feel a bit autumny these last few days.

73mm previous day and 18.5mm last 24hrs..

28 just let us know if you see the dragon fly land on a flowering murraya..

I'm pretty sure that means 40 days and 40 nights of rain..Unsure

and yeah guys, BOM and council are as bad as one another..both deny responsibility and nothing gets done...

LOL. The murraya have lost their blossom. That seems to tally with BOM's predictions:

I am not ready for dry weather yet.

12mm overnight here. It was a drizzly Sunday. The gfs model has a tropical low rolling through this area from the gulf towards the end of the month. Could bring some good rain.

G'day everyone.

Only 3 mm here this morning..

Looks like today might be it in the way of fine or semi fine days.

Had a nice little flood in the Daintree from Friday morning, had to put a boat in to go and check on and feed animals.
Sure has been a wet start to this year.

Cheers
